Instead of making another post, I'm just going to edit this ones title. Currently on my 2nd char in .18

Any suggestions, critique or criticism is welcome.

I hope I'm linking this right... Anyhow I've been playing offline and lurking since .13, I figured I would give online a try, not to mention a Crawl version beyond .15.

I got really careless on this char at the very end, so I have a good idea of why I died. I am curious as to a solid critique of the play through, which was mostly done in off time over 2-3 days. Consumables, Skill levels, Spells used, Evokables, etc.

Note: I was training up Longblades for the possible use of a Falchion instead of the +9 Holy Rapier, Since I wasn't quite sure which would have been better, meh.. Also, I probably should have turned off Spellcasting at 26, I just kind of forgot about it at the end there.

Probably shoulda drunk cmut and (hopefully) got rid of frail. I'd probably have fighting a little higher (and dodging/spellcasting) at this point in the game becauese every hip point on a spriggan is needed. I'd have learned shadow creatures because I freakin' love shadow creatures and all my casters leaned shadow creatures.

Everything else seems pretty good to me!

I've got about 8 Recharge Scrolls. I found a +3 Rod of Inaccuracy 10/10 and was thinking about boosting it up for a Ranged Attack since I have yet to find Iron shot or the +0 Rod of Shadows for an alternate Summons for Distraction stabs.
I'm a few Tele Scrolls away from getting the Trove open, I figure with 3 Tele Wands in the game it shouldn't be too bad.

Got lucky on my second Acquire Scroll with Moon Troll Armor, first was FDA.
Other things of note in stash are a Macabre Necklace, +2 Robe of rF/rC, +2 Robe of Arch mage, Skin of Zhor, but no other form of rC+.
Lots of Books, Necronomicon, Akashic Record, Unlife, etc.

Been playing pretty carefully this time around, I put a couple points into Str on lvl ups in case of some bad luck on Death Curses.
I figure 6 Str Base isn't too bad, I've got Sustain & +4 Str rings along with Might and cmut for an emergency.

Still not 100% sure on which weapon I should use Brand Weapon and 6 Enchant Scrolls on. I wasn't sure if a Rapier would be better since it has higher base dmg or what.

I've got a +1 Dagger of Holy Wrath, and two other +6 Rapiers Draining & Venom. I use the QB of Pain on certain things, and without having another blank QB I am hesitant to Brand it since Pain is Rare.

Currently training Invok to get a Panic Button up. I found a Manual of Charms and Stealth so those are pretty High, I wasn't sure if I should get DDoor or not... Never had it before, but it seems like it could be a great panic button.

Managed to locate the Abyssal Rune as well as Vaults so up to 5 total.

I dropped Silence and Gells for Necromutation, 4% cast rate w/Wiz

I found a Tele Scroll (12/14 for Trove) & Acquirement Scroll in Abyss trip. Acquired Haste wand & managed to get rElec mut

Still no good form of rC+ so I guess Lich form will have to do. Up to 2 Brand Scrolls & 6 Enchant Weap...

Still not sure which brand I should try for on a Rapier, and should I just dump the Enchant scrolls on the +0 QB of pain? I have been using Prot for 20 total AC.

IMO, Falchion is horrible for Spriggan.

Benefits:
* One more base damage. (but at +9, the enchantment is probably worth more than the modified base damage)

Drawbacks:
* It's slower: the minimum delay is 0.6 instead of 0.5
* You have much worse aptitude

If you're going to go long blades, plan to ditch the buckler and use a bigger sword.

The only reason I was considering switching to a Falchion was in my last game I had two randarts drop with good modifiers, along with no spectral weapon I was looking for some kind of damage output once mobs were awake.

As far as it goes now, I've found a couple +3 Eudemon Blades I was considering using for Pan/Hell. No idea what the optimal thing to do for enchanting up an endgame weapon would be.

You shouldn't really melee dangerous stuff as a SpEn if you can't stab it. Either just snatch the rune and run, or use summons. Training for long blades is a total waste.

I agree, I should have done some things different. One of which is ditch Mana Vipers & Passwall for Control Blink, since it would be a reliable way to bypass a good deal of problems. Better luck next time I suppose.
