Now YAVP : MfAK^Lucy

Very lucky character : I found an amazing +13 chain mail, a SInv helmet, and even some -3 boots I do wear... Should I also talk about the +5AC/+6EV rings ?

Now I can use either a bardiche or a dtrident... There's a rC shield somewhere, dtrident allows to save some XP, but Mf can afford training Polearms to 26... And I luckily brand my bardiche to flame, so hydras aren't a reason to swap weapon (I banished all of them before flame brand...)

What weapon would you use ? I consider distorting the dtrident and save it as a swap...

I would wield the scroll of acquirement, and read it. If none of your other scrolls are enchant or brand weapon, weapon would be a tempting acquirement. If they are brand, probably use the dtrident for now.

Can you please provide an example? Hill Giant?

Edit. I think I found an example. Attacking high MR or just dangerous monsters like Orc Sorcerer with reaching while it is still behind another monster.

The flaming bardiche was very good for all the game, I just disto-ed it for the ascension (and it did banish a panlord)...

An easy game overall, I never needed Lucy escape tools and only banished some foes early on. I had some very nice gear but found no MR before Elf:3 and Crypt... Being confused by a single orc wizard at this state of the game sucks... :D

Congrats!

Lugonu is great for melee fighters in heavy armour when you have low MR. Confusion is indeed one of the worst things that can happen ;)

1. If you are in a situation where the critter is dangerous enough that dying to it before killing it is a possibility and you can't use your invocation to banish it, nor can you escape (not being able to escape from something like that shouldn't happen, but if you were let's say around a silent spectre and a wand of tele hadn't dropped, or you were a formacid on the bottom of a branch)

2. More plausibly you could use it against anything less dangerous at range than in melee, of course the same could be said of the bardiche with disto, but the dtrident will hit them more often, and since you don't want that effect on everything, it is good to have another weapon you can use.

3. As in your example, reaching over something harmless to try to banish something dangerous. (It is better to use a dtrident for this purpose, since it is faster than a bardiche) of course if you can just kill it faster enough with a bardiche, that might be optimal instead, although the difference in dps between a bardiche^disto and a dtrident^disto isn't really all that large
