Help for >3 rune games

I have no experience in the late game. I've only ascended 3-rune tank type characters. Now i want to ascend a more-than-3-rune one (as many runes as posible), but im unsure about my character/strategy suitability and next steps for it. My plan is initially to clear Elves, then Shoals, then Slime Pits, then dugeon, then convert to TSO and clear the Crypt, then think about whats next. My only close call so far was the last level of Vaults, when I understimated the mob and was locked out of stair-dancing, but I spent a few resources and managed to go through. So, questions:
- Keep the crystal plate mail or try to get a GDA enchanted to max?
- Weapons? (havent got any good anti-magic axes so far, unfortunately).
- Should I try to learn some basic magic? I suspect the CPA will make it pretty much impossible with my low int.
- Should i even consider training evasion considering im wearing CPA? Should i switch armors so i can train evasion and magic???
- Which further branches can i aspire to clear with this character and which can i pretty much forget from the off?
- Any further advice on strategy?

You should probably clear Shoals next.

I'd be inclined to go with the GDA, but that CPA is probably fine. The fact that you have 0 dodging is not fine. Stop training armour, probably forever, and start training dodging. I'd stop training invocations until after you switch to TSO.

Your weapon is also fine. Ideally, there's a non-artefact exec axe that you can holy brand with TSO, if you decide to make the switch.

You should learn some magic, yes; ideally, by the time you're well into extended, you can pick up spells like silence and haste too. Blink, apportation, rmsl, golubria, summon butterflies, and song of slaying are all probably reasonable goals for now. You should drop all those trash decks and avoid training so much evocations unless you have something worthwhile to evoke; instead, with Oka or Trog, it's probably a better idea to focus on throwing rather than evocations for ranged damage.

Assuming you play well, there's nothing this character can't do. I would wait until after you finish depths to switch to TSO; make sure you have a ring of teleportation and either evocable or castable blink, as getting surrounded by Oka's summons is a good way to get wrecked.

Sorry, follow up... So you're saying CPA *is* compatible with casting and dodging? Also (I have never played a caster)... Which magic schools/skills should I train and in which order?

I know I tend to overtrain some useless skills, never really looked at the math of it like most people here hahaha.

Casting in CPA isn't outright impossible, but you'll have an easier time of it in GDA or PDA. Train the schools of the spells you want to learn until the failure rate is acceptable. That's about it. I'd prioritize getting blink and apportation by training translocations.

There's no real reason not to train dodging at this point; it's incredibly cheap compared to more armour levels that you don't really need. You should've probably trained it a long time ago, but I guess when Oka gives you a CPA on D:10, you work with what you've got.

Casting in cpa is fine. I would get spells instead of training dodging high; the returns on dodging will get pretty bad pretty fast with your stats, but training it to like 6 would be okay. "Should've probably trained it a long time ago" is technically true, but only because you wasted experience in fighting and invocations; you only overtrained armour by 0.1 level and that's only because heroism exists.
There is no reason to train heroism-affected skills above 22, because you should just be using heroism instead. Those 3 levels of fighting are basically doing nothing.

Gold dragon armour has a higher encumbrance rating than crystal plate armor, at least if the numbers on the wiki are up to date.
