YAVP: FoGl of Gozag (3 runes), streak, disto-spear run

So I found a runed spear on D:4. Had to wait until D:7 when I had a remove curse scroll to wield-id it. It turned out to be a spear of distortion. I never unwielded that since. So it turns out a spear of distortion is good enough to win the game with. This is no surprise to anyone who remembers Sandman25 and the spear of freezing challenge. I hope Aizul, Arachne, Ilsuiw, Louise, Nikola, Polyphemus, and Snorg have a good time in the Abyss.

Amazing fact: Norris is number one on my Vanquished Creatured list.

This is also a streak and my first Gozag win. After winning a GrFi I started a FoGl and wanted to get a god I hadn't won with yet. So I had to say no to Nemelex on D:1. Luckily Gozag was on D:2.

About Gozag: I only used Potion Petition twice and Bribe Branch once (for Zot). I would have bribed Zot again but didn't collect enough gold for that. So it was all about Call Merchant, which I used 8 times. There was one random food shop which I bought empty. I also called one food shop when I had only a couple of jerkies and a few pieces of fruit left. I guess I used so much food because playing with a disto spear is quite time consuming.

The spear of distortion was quite ok until Vaults or so. In Vaults, Crypt and Zot it made clearing levels really slow as things got teleported around a few times before getting killed or banished. Especially curse skulls in Crypt took a long time to get rid of. I shafted myself from V:4 to a completely safe spot in a corridor. Clearing V:5 was no problem from there.

The Orb run was terrible just like with my first Formicid victory. Luckily I had a few sacks of spiders to make Pan lords busy so I managed to escape them.

I believe this was my all time highest total AC+EV+SH with about 109 (when not drained like in the end).

My 40th victory, first Gozag worshipper. I have now played 3 Formicids and won 2 of them, which makes Fo my 2nd best species (after VS 1/1). I find this fact very disturbing. Gladiator is now my 6th best background with 3/19=15,8%.

Streak ended by splatting a VSMo on D:2 (shame on me). I kind of forgot that 1) sky beasts are actually dangerous at that point and 2) blindly quaffing potions in an emergency is less efficient with VS.

What's funny is that this makes Fo now my best species as VS dropped to 1/2=50% :)
