1) Quaff a potion of haste
2) IF: (you will not get any damage) go up and run away, summon a demon and hope it's not hostile, teleport otherwise
(you get a club to the face) get some distance and teleport away. You'll probably wind up somewhere safe to rest

Using stairs while hasted takes 1.6 aut. With 1 turn to quaff, that's 2.6.

Safer than !Haste, move, ?Tele, move, move, move...?

Useless to start with !Agility?

Fear ought to scatter them easily if that's what you want.
Don't quaff lig in open terrain like that because you'll be standing next to two hill giants.
If you do quaff haste, you'll likely be able to escape back up stairs by making a counter-clockwise kind of circle in that room.
Maybe if you walk east, you'll come into a corridor where you can take an action and risk only 1 giant hitting you, but that's dubious.

!Fear has a good chance of working on Hill Giants? I'd just assumed not, for no real reason.

I've used the other two stairs, so I know where they are. Think I just want to get off a ?Tele.

Fear may work on giants just to scatter them.

It probably won't work on them awfully long though, fyi.

If you go southeast immediately, you may be able to find a corridor so that you can do something (e.g. quaff haste) and only get hit once. Alternatively you might be able to manage the same feat by having that orc get in the way. Or the AI can stumble and have one hold back, but I don't think that happens with hill giants.

Tried !Fear, after reading that it checks MR rather than HD, and that the scroll is always 200 power. Worked on the one, the other hit me for 21HP.
