Before entering Orc:4, it seems that Orc:3 had its own mall... And some of the stuff here makes me want to buy a lot of things...

I would get the ring of protection (+3 AC will be welcome) and figure on coming back for the iron rod if you still need a hydra tool after Orc 4. Iron rods do a number on hydras at close range, and later on can oneshot most threats with 15 Evo. The lajatang of order is a great weapon, and if you can afford it too, I would. But flat out killing a spiny frog every fight, then backing up to let the rod recharge is almost certainly more potent.

I would buy the regen amulet for sure, it is certainly better than nothing :D

Is the Laja of Order really that good? After all, it is practically unbranded against almost all monsters.

And why are you wearing a +0 robe? You have curse scrolls.

The lajatang of order is a +7 lajatang. That makes it very good for a mummy in the midgame, because you get proper damage from reasonable skill input. Later you'll find more lajatangs and can brand and enchant one for more damage. For now it does way more than any other weapon he's likely to find.

He already has an elec weapon, which is always awesome. (Except against monsters who are immune).

That's expensive, but it won't be hard to get your spells castable in it. These days guardian spirit is fairly good on hybrids, so... I'd go for it. Especially since you can't get regen spell on a mummy.

I suppose it depends on how valuable your ring slots are. Right now for sure, your ring slots aren't that valuable. You can view the tradeoff between leather armour and this easily enough.

Leather armour of fire resist + 1 enchant armour scroll, + both protection rings (assuming 0 armour skill)
+11 AC, rC+

Moon troll + ring of fire + +5 protection
+13 AC + regen++ and guardian spirit.

I'll take the moon troll armour any day. It also gets better with armour skill...

Can you believe it's the same character ? I don't !

I bought the Moon TLA to see what I could afford. The ?brand weapon was my first choice. I got drain, so it's ok. Then a runed shield : rF ! And now, I just cleared an Ice Cave that gave me this rF++ artefact ring : the Int and MP are just bonus !

Now I'll just try not to die to a stupid hydra in Lair !

New dump, because Lab spawned and gave me the Arga axe... Worth the switch ? I can try and rebrand the eveningstar twice, and enchant it to +7. I can leave the weapon slot uncursed to use rod, and train some Evo for it.

I prefer arga, personally. The chances of getting an equivalently good brand on the morningstar is slim. Speed is simply amazing vs non-high-AC monsters (especially with some slaying), and one-handeds aren't that good vs high AC anyhow. I'd train up arga, and try to use evo for AC monsters.

Rod of shadows is OP. It doesn't cast shadow creatures (where the monsters are based on branch) but instead has a constant, evo-dependent monster set. At high levels of evo it gives golden dragons and flocks of caustic shrikes. One flock of caustic shrikes can kill an OoF very quickly. It's seriously worth training evo to 22+ for that.

The eveningstar does probably more damage, but I needed MR, and I think that training enough Axes for Arga drives the eveningstar to mindelay. I'll swap weapon (depending on foes AC) and try to get a better brand on the +9 eveningstar...

Still improving the character. I found a nice amu and a +Inv cloak in Elf, along with the vamp tooth and a pain dagger. I'll train some Stealth for some stabs...

Yup! Fairie dragon armour is sweet!

Do you have blink or repel missiles? I'd get those online, and the eveningstar to mindelay if it's your primary weapon. (I'm pretty sure arga is at mindelay already.) Animate dead and death channel both come to mind as well. Death channel is super good for snowballing a fight. After that, I would seriously just dump into evo, aiming for the best rolls from swarm and shadows.

No blink no Rmsl... My main weapon is the Arga axe, and it's to mindelay. The eveningstar needs 16 M&F to mindelay.

This character went pretty strong, though the lack of fast heal option is scary sometimes (had a hard time in Zot...)
