Just having a little LRD spellpower question.

If I'm correct, current LRD spellpower is (9/2 + 2*12.4) * 28/10 = 82.04, so enough to destroy all walls (including metal).
  • Can you confirm that I'm ok ? Or should I apply the diminish return formula ? In this case, how many Earth Magic will give me 80 spellpower ?
  • Having the amount of spellpower required for each type of wall doesn't mean that you will destroy it at first try... Do you have the formula that links spellpower to chance to destroy a wall ?

Your spellpower is over 50, so yes you should apply the stepdown. I'm not sure about the specifics of the stepdown but ballparking it you'd probably end up somewhere around 65 (edit: looks like roughly 68 from the plot) or so, and not be able to break metal yet. Could probably get stone, but no promises.

Calculating spellpower isn't necessary, since the LRD breakpoints match spellpower breakpoints (as mentioned in the spell description, probably Sequell is out of date):
At high power, this spell is capable of destroying some walls: rock, stone or metal walls have a chance of being destroyed with at least 5, 6 or 7 bars of power. Crystal walls are particularly brittle and have a chance of being destroyed at any power level.

Rock has a 1/3 chance of being destroyed, stone a 1/10, and metal a pow/5 in 500 chance (so I guess you do need to calculate spellpower for that if you care that much).

Now facing another question : what is the best (same enchantment) between eudemon blade and HW double sword ? No slaying.

If I recall the wiz mode tests I ran the eudemon blade was ever so slightly better. It also requires less skill if that is a factor, double blade gets slightly higher benefit from str though so if you have silly str bonuses it might pull in front, but that seems unlikely.

I don't think that 19 can be called silly str, but used the HW double sword because it had better enchantment (+9 vs +4), it should probably fill the gap...

This char had Chei-like stats, with +17 Int and +13 Dex. I laso dell like there's no more MP diminish return, 70 is like... a lot ! Used spirit shield for a long time (amulet, then hat), it did help !

Grads on the win!

I would have used the Eudimon blade had there been enough EW lying around. Eudimon blade gets more benifit from dex, and probably from +1 dex +1 str than the double sword. However, the enchantment level almost certainly more than made up for this.

In fact, what I should have used is a triple sword ! Found 3 of them in the entire game and my buckler wasn't really worth it !
