YAVP: GhGl of Oka (3 runes, streak)

And it's a streak! After MuVM I started a GhGl. Went UC and despite wearing plate and a shield and even gloves, this character was an UC powerhouse. If I was a tabber, this would have been a really tabbable character.

Went for Oka and 3 runes, because I hadn't won Gh or Gl before.

I skipped half of D:4 due to a TeCK ghost but I had to go back after D:8 because I hadn't found the temple. The ghost banished me and I was sure I was going to die in the Abyss but amazingly I found the exit in just 83 turns and even killed a raiju.

Having Int:3 and running into a vault of brain worms and orange brains caused severe brainlessness. I had to teleport away and go fetch a robe with +3 int to recover. After I got the gloves with +3 int I felt safer. I decided on principle not to put any stat points to int.

Fun fact: I never used Finesse. I had enough haste.

A very fun game, healing by eating chunks is very convenient. Stabbing two ancient liches while in plate was satisfying.

Oh, I expected some lines containing Abyss:1 as location. Good that you haven't met any dangerous things there.

Ghosts are usually pretty easy to avoid so I haven't deleted them.

I was surprised that the raiju I killed in the Abyss wasn't mentioned in the dump. It felt like a dangerous encounter to me.

Nice, I've been trying that combo a bit lately. Oka sure is wicked on a UC user.

Also interesting to see you found it to work well in plate, in a version with attack delays for UC in hvy armour.

I also find that the encounters mentioned in the dump are often somewhat trivial, and the real tough meetings go unnoted. Raiju is nasty because elec though, which not being HD isnt a thing as far as the notes go. I'd agree its one of the things Im least happy to see on Abyss:1 when the entry is unintentional.

Not sure I'd have relied on gear +Int, but good hussle.

I wore lighter armour for the first half of the game, but when fighting in plate seemed effective enough I kept it on.

Maybe it would have been optimal to go light armour and shieldless (at least from the perspective of doing damage). But I'm not the one for optimal play (see my Stealth skill). I also waited quite long before wearing gloves (I have no idea at which point it's good to wear gloves on an UC ghoul).

Being brainless was indeed no fun.
