YAVP: ImGl of Chei

Well, Chei + teleportitis is not enough to play without luring. It was very easy to defeat a pack of Yaks before Lair by luring one yak around a corner, killing it, healing, luring next Yak and so on (no Blink ability was used). And then I found Lantern of Shadows before Lair :(
Killed Spiny Frog by standing and passing turns :shock: Then got a hydra 1 tile away from me (because patch "comes into view again" is not yet in the game), killed the hydra by running as Chei worshiper with 5 stars of piety. I didn't even blink (forgot).

3 Shadows at XL 11, each of them is displayed as "dangerous" to me, and I lost only 8 MP. Crawl is still full of unbalanced items. I identified my only potion of curing in Lair only so I quaffed unknown potions when confused and low on HP in dungeon, got 3 nice mutations.

Found demon blade of flaming on D9 but my tests showed that it is not much better than Morningstar so I am not going to switch.

Learned something new - it is possible to get a mutation (no device heal 1) from unwielding Contam weapon without a chance to quaff cancellation :(
Spent 3 acquirements trying to get a demon whip, got demon polearm, arbalet and finally +1 eveningstar of protection.
Enchanted the latter and found a +1 demon whip of draining on the same level so I don't need more weapons.
The character is so powerful that I believe it can die to random teleports only (or my stupidity). I tested how dodging works with Imp and Dex 38, it adds roughly 1 EV for 1 skill level and I don't really need it (base EV would be 49 at Dodging 27, I am fine with EV 36 too, Deflect Missile would be more useful). Trying to make it a hybrid for more fun.
Found stasis but dropped it immediately, for fun too.

I avoided Vaults 5 with my previous Imp, let's see how the character will die there. Got abyssed by distortion and was lucky to find demon whip of electro in Abyss 2, draining brand was very weak vs resistant monsters and I have no slaying at all.
Trove was very good (hat of pondering, Dyrovepreva, ratskin, QDA, ShadowDA) but I decided to stay in FDA.

Vaults 5 was not that hard.
I tried to clear Zot 5 but it is a bad idea, the species is more suited for stealing the Orb and I don't want to get another 3 rune win. I will do Abyss now, then will try Tomb (probably will die there but it should be fun). If not, next will be Pan and Hell (Slime is not an option as the only source of rCorr is a buckler with -Tele from trove and I don't want to prevent teleportitis).

rTorment and rRot without vulnerability to Dispel Undead made extended enjoyable, especially Tomb where I used Silence in most fights. Hellfire was dangerous though, I had to step from time twice when I stupidly moved in LoS of Hell Sentinels and Briemstone Fiend. I decided to train Air Magic in Pan, had nothing left to train anyway and eventually I found Tornado in a zig. Tornado is really great for Imp, it allows to have a good and mana efficient answer for unlucky teleports. I used +3 FDA, QDA, +9 IDA and +10 ShadowDA, very unusual.
Gehena was dangerous but somewhat disappointed me with lucky teleport right into rune vault, I didn't even see corresponding hell lord.
I don't know what to play next, played 2 Imps and won both, luring is too powerful even with Chei :(

I hate to spend real time on luring and pillar dancing, this is why I tried Imp of Chei. With challenge games I would need to do it a lot. Maybe I will play Naga/Imp of Qazlal. But the god is really strong, probably I should train no Invocations to make it more challenging.
I played SpVM without potions/scrolls/wands/weapon and with autotraining, it died during orb run.

I think such a game would require too much attention (I have reflexes to retreat) and would depend on luck too much. Probably I would die to first dangerous unique and the whole game would feel like a waste of time (and too close to speedrunning which I don't like for similar reasons).
Though I will give it a try, thanks for the idea :)

Edit. Oh, I should press only o, Tab and >, no other keys are allowed. Should be fast.

Edit2. It should be a caster, otherwise it will be boring and should be replaced with a bot.

You should try playing TrXX of Gozag. The hunger clock is now a serious problem.

Well, I would not call it a serious problem, it makes game merely unplayable. I spent 450+ gold to open a shop and got

So gozag is unplayable as a TR? Hmm, that seems like a problem. If potion petition still offered porridge, do you think it would be workable?

I don't think so. First potion was free but next one cost 400, shop cost 450+ but at least it was selling multiple rations and seemed to be cheaper per nutrition point. Problem with Tr is that it is impossible to get high defense early and regeneration is active too often. Intrinsic mutation does not help either of course.
