either lair or d:10 and then lair; a shield would be nice (just a regular one - you probably wouldn't want to use the randart large shield in your inventory right now unless it's beyond amazing); kill and eat everything; you should probably get enough dodging for a couple more points of EV and some more fighting

It was an acquirement shield, so there is a high probability of extreme suckage.

Fighting and dodging seem a bit low to me, compared to UC. Trolls have little problems killing stuff, defences are quite important to not become a glass cannon.

16 UC (with claws 3) is plenty to go all the way to getting your two lair sub-branch runes, so turn that off and train fighting/dodging. Once those are around 8-10 or so, I'd probably train shields for the randart large shield. ID the shield immediately to first check that it isn't terrible, but assuming it has some positive enchantment and a useful property or two, I'd say it's well worth 15 shields to use it. Get a bit more fighting/dodging first, but it'd be my next priority. When shield is done, go back to fighting/UC/dodging again.

awww, I had high hopes. In any case, look around for a regular shield if you can, or a large shield is still a decent option if that's all you have.

There is entirely not enough throwing on a TrBe. You can hurl large rocks, which will double as your hydra killing weapons, as your claws will spawn more heads. Hoover all javs/tomahawks/large rocks and use them liberally.
