I've come to share with you my stupid death.
This was the first time I've ever had a Demigod far enough to even get one rune, and this one god three!
I don't have very much experience with demigods. One thing that I was surprised about was how slowly demigods level up. I was completing Zot at level 23. I really enjoy the necromancer start because animate skeleton and regeneration are such amazing spells. I eventually started using death channel (never used it before) which turned out to be great for the Depths and what part of Zot that I did clear.
I sadly never found any source of haste, but I did find 10 potions of haste in the cloud Wizlab.
Recently the only times that I've been in Zot have been with characters that are extremely strong, but this demigod felt like an uphill battle the entire game. I think that's the reason I underestimated Zot so much.
Here's the death log:
I rounded a corner to see about two draconians. I think I was tired from playing all day and I took a step forward. I saw three more draconians and decided to fight them all right at the corner since the position wasn't literally awful and I was able to hit all of them with my rod of clouds. Upon evoking the rod, one of the draconians cast blink allies encircling which trapped me in the corridor next to a curse toe and a golden dragon, no less. I think I bopped the golden dragon once before realizing that I needed to gtfo (I was put to 50% hp that turn). I looked in my inventory and for some reason I was under the impression that I did not have any scrolls of blinking (I looked for them for like 10 seconds and for some reason I did not think I had any), so I tried to quaffing haste, and, well, the rest is history. 96 damage from a golden dragon fucking wrecking my face in one turn.
Things to remember: Walking at enemies is dumb, draconians that blink their allies can bring things to you from out of your LoS, and golden dragons hurt. A lot.

I don't have very much experience with demigods. One thing that I was surprised about was how slowly demigods level up. I was completing Zot at level 23. I really enjoy the necromancer start because animate skeleton and regeneration are such amazing spells. I eventually started using death channel (never used it before) which turned out to be great for the Depths and what part of Zot that I did clear.
I sadly never found any source of haste, but I did find 10 potions of haste in the cloud Wizlab.
Recently the only times that I've been in Zot have been with characters that are extremely strong, but this demigod felt like an uphill battle the entire game. I think that's the reason I underestimated Zot so much.

I rounded a corner to see about two draconians. I think I was tired from playing all day and I took a step forward. I saw three more draconians and decided to fight them all right at the corner since the position wasn't literally awful and I was able to hit all of them with my rod of clouds. Upon evoking the rod, one of the draconians cast blink allies encircling which trapped me in the corridor next to a curse toe and a golden dragon, no less. I think I bopped the golden dragon once before realizing that I needed to gtfo (I was put to 50% hp that turn). I looked in my inventory and for some reason I was under the impression that I did not have any scrolls of blinking (I looked for them for like 10 seconds and for some reason I did not think I had any), so I tried to quaffing haste, and, well, the rest is history. 96 damage from a golden dragon fucking wrecking my face in one turn.
Things to remember: Walking at enemies is dumb, draconians that blink their allies can bring things to you from out of your LoS, and golden dragons hurt. A lot.
