CIP SpEn What now?

Hi
I am playing Spriggan Enchanter of Nemelex Xobeh. This is my best character till now I suppose because previous one were killed by Hydras and other nasty ones in Lair or main Dungeon. I have cleared the Lair 1-6 and do not know what to do now. I think I will go down and clear the whole Lair and then Orc. I actually can feel I can win (everybody needs to have a dream) so I will go for three runes cause I think my chances are much higher then if I go for more runes (who would guess).
So where to go now? For these three runes. As you see I do not have any poison resistance. Hovever I have a book (in stash) with s spell resist poison (or something like that) but I am really shitty at poison. And I could not even cast a spell.

By the way. Do you know how to place my character info in the post in that way that it could be seen without downloading? I mean a drop down menu.

Clear the rest of the Lair and then clear the main dungeon down to the Vaults. If you find rPois by then, go back and clear Snake Pit. Be careful of the greater nagas on Snake 5, as they may be extremely difficult to get a stab in on (they are immune to a lot of enchantments and effects). You can clear Orc as well at that point.

Elf shouldn't be too bad either for an enchanter, but I'd stay off Elf:5 until you are much more powerful.

The 3 runes I would go for are the one from Shoals, the one from Snake Pit and the one from Vaults 8 (though this one may be a bit difficult for an enchanter to obtain).

Note that as a weakling spriggan, you serve the chance of getting 1-hit, even in the late game.

I'm afraid I can't offer much more specific advice for a SpEn, because most of mine end up dying late game, due to lack of total health (lost one to a single breathe from Xtahua when it woke up the turn that I was going to stab it, for example).

I will try the best I can do. As for the greater nagas I do not know how powerful they are but I hope deck of Summoning will be useful (as they were till now).

I just found out there's a Snake 5 layout with an entry similar to Vault 8, where the 3 entrance stairs are in a circular room full of nasties... be careful there

Usually this entry vault has 2 sets of stairs and an escape hatch. If you get it, head immediately for the other staircase and go up. Once back on Snake:4, drop exclusions on the two down stairs that you've just used and then use the third down stair to enter the level until you've gotten the rune out.

If all 3 stairs end up in that entry vault, well, may Xom have mercy on you...

Second time I ever cleared Snake 5 I got that vault. It was with a conjurator, so it was a *little* easier.

It was slow though. Shadow Creatures/Summon Imps, step down the stairs, fight until adjacent to Greater Naga or naga Mage or two, then pull them up the stairs, blink away, and slowly whittle them to death. If you stay on the steps up, being teleported isn't a big deal at all.

Just understand that, though all the greater nagas are in the rooms adjacent to the steps, there are a LOT of them. If you think you've pulled them all, you haven't. Always keep an escape route back to the stairs.

The character here has a 2-turn controlled blink, so it wouldn't be that much of an issue.

When you get that kind of vault, if there are many monsters not immune to enchantments, I generally find it helpful as a Nemelex worshipper to stack a legendary deck of summoning with a Crusade first, followed by one or several mass summons (Herd, Foxfire). This will likely turn all the weaker monsters on the stronger ones, leaving time for your summons to do some good damage. The few monsters left are generally pretty easy to pick off, or run from if you get injured (assuming there are any left ; I've almost cleared Vaults:8 with this alone one time).

I am currently in the mines now. Still no resistant poison however I have learned the spell.

Maybe I should ask somewhere else but I do not will not to start new topic.
The point is I do not understand HP of my character. It is 45/45 (65) - what is the 65? Why I do not have full health points. I have drunk a potion of restore abilities so I do not think it's about that.
It happened in the Lair I think. What should I do to have full (65 I think) hit points?

In that case, just bring a few upstairs with you at a time and hope you can take them down. Greater nagas usually like to hang back, so you can clear most of the warriors/mages/guardian serpents this way pretty easily and then come back to die to the greater nagas.

That is a TON of rotted hitpoints. Whenever you see the 'Rot' status, I'd recommend drinking a healing potion rather than waiting the rot out. The only way to get those hit points back is drinking healing, heal wounds, or hitting yourself with a healing wand when you're already at full health. In that case, you'd need like 20 healing potions, or 7 heal wounds, or probably 5 healing wand charges.

Well

I have cleared Lair, Orc Mines, Hive and 1-4 Snake Pits. Snake Pit was not so hard even though I did not have any poison resistance item. Although I have used the spell. One or two times I forgot to cast but i quickly recovered form poison. I decided to go to Vaults before clearing last level. Maybe there is some way to auto cast when the spell expires?

But now I have other problem. I do not know how to use properly Nemelex abilities. Only first two. I have chosen to mark four the deck of escape since I had little problem with a dragon. The in Lair I used first ability thinking that maybe there will be some question mark which cards to draw. The thing is I was cast to the Abyss...

So...

I found quite quickly an escape portal but it was covered with walls or something. I tried controlled teleport but apparently do not know how to do that too. Or maybe it doesn't work in the abyss? I cast teleport and the control teleport. Then I did opposite but still it did not work. I needed to get away course there quite a few demons around.
How long it my take when I find another door to escape? Or it would be better to convert to Lugonu when I find the altar? The thing is Nemelex is great. I do not need to do anything just summon or use cards or destruction. For instance this feared known Mara which I heard about - he was vanished quickly by my summons :lol:

The spell is good enough for nearly every purpose. It's little different than swapping rings whenever you see a poisonous monster. There is no auto-cast for buffs yet, but there is some discussion. I wouldn't expect it soon, though.

That card was the Damnation card. It banishes a monster you can see to the Abyss. If you can't see any other monster, you're the monster it sends to the Abyss, although it will only banish you in that particular case.

Draw One is your staple card-drawing ability. It lets you draw without wielding the deck, and that's it.

Draw Three is good for risky decks, which might have dangerous cards in them. Wonders, for instance.

Mark Four will shuffle those four back into your deck. You cannot draw one of the four until one happens to be at the top of the deck, but when one of the four is at the top of your deck you can see which one it will be. In your case, the Damnation card was NOT marked, so you had to draw it to get it out of the way to get down to your marked cards. Should've drawn with a monster in sight.

Stack Five sacrifices the rest of the deck for a completely reliable deck in exactly the order you want it.

The Abyss specifically blocks teleport control and modifies most forms of teleportation. If you investigated more closely you might have found a way to get to it, but this certainly isn't guaranteed.

Nemelex draws repeatedly from her Deck of Punishment if you abandon her, so odds are decent you'll just end up in the Abyss again if you abandon her, or you might get randomly entombed, starved, mutated, or drained. The other cards can be bad news, too. Converting to Lugonu is mostly practical for speedrunners. Lugonu's granted powers are unlikely to be better for you than those of Nemelex.

I had managed to get out of the Abyss. It wasn't so hard actually. At first I thought it might take hours but it was only a couple of minutes. In a matter of fact I actually had more food the before I entered the Abyss. I have found a couple of identify scrolls which were really useful cause I was in absence of them in that time.

Then I went back to the Vaults. I did eventually decided to clear the last level of Snake Pits after i had spotted Xtahua on V7.

Like Katak sad Greater Nagas weren't easy

I had some problem cause all my Summoning cards have been used on them. Fortunately I had the one or two decks of Destruction which with defense experimenting and gifted Summonings did take the problem.

One thing I used and didn't before was invisibility. It' awesome. When I was in Abyss there was a time when I became cornered. I thought it would be the end but then i casted invisibility and the demons were confused cause they couldn't see me

When you're invisible and they cant see you you're doing a lot more damage. That is how I cleared the Vaults to 7 and it helped a lot in Snake 5 too.

Now I think I'll go to the Shoals. Maybe Elven Halls should be better first?
Fortunately I didn't learn Deflect Missiles even though I have found a book (in Snake 5 I think) cause I have low chance with it.

Btw I have a couple of questions.
Maybe someone knows why I can't enchant more my +5 dagger of protection? It say's it can be enchanted to +9.
Can I safely leave a rune on the Lair2? It won't disappear?
Why it say's about Swiftness - this spell will have no effect right now ? Spriggans cannot use that spell?

And what about this Xtahua? What I have read sounds really scary. More then 400 damage? Really?
I don't have resistances beside little Fire. Maybe I should do Elven first or Shoals. And when I find resistance take out the Dragon? I can just sneak cause he sees invisible and is near the stair with a horde of other monsters...
Will invisibility be useful in Shoals or Elven?

Anyway I am really happy. It's my first rune. Actually I have cleared Lairs for the first time. Always died to hydras or by stupidity :lol:

Spriggans can use swiftness; it's just that there's a limit to how fast you can move, and spriggans are naturally at that limit. So it will have no effect unless something is slowing you down.

I'd say elf is easier than shoals, but there's no rune in there, just good loot. The last floor in elf is much harder though (floor 5 in 0.8.0). Invisibility is somewhat good in elf. Here's the thing: anything in elf that looks like it mainly uses magic can see invisible; anything that is primarily a warrior can't.

Lair 2 is a good place for a stash. Nothing in the game except chunks of meat will disappear on its own (unless you worship Jiyva). And nothing in Lair can use items except uniques. Things from the main dungeon can rarely wander into Lair 1 though, but even they wouldn't pick up a rune.

My mistake then. I think I was remembering something I researched earlier about elf 5, and applied it to all of elf. It still is a good rule of thumb for there though.

I was killed by Executioner in the Elven Halls. Perhaps I should go to the Shoals first.
Well... At least I have learned a lot. It was my first rune. And first game I went farther then Lair.

Of course I died by stupidity mostly. I wanted to kill that Demonologist with my dagger. Yeah. Right. So I stabbed him and he summoned things. Well I DID stabbed him to death but Executioner summoned by him killed me. Perhaps if I would use different escape card. Or just kill the demonologist different way...

BTW What is BRGN status? When I had that i could exchange position with the enemy. Never saw it before.
Wonder if I did not leave the rune in Lair 2 would the score be higher. Does the score has something to do with the carried items?

Anyway. I suppose in the next game I will not go to Elven Halls. At least if I do, I will do it with higher XL.
