CIP: OgNe of Ashenzari - Advice Needed

Well, I rolled a random character and got an Ogre Necromancer. I was expecting this character to die fairly fast, but surprisingly this combination is actually extremely powerful, and I've had almost no troubles at any point in this game.

However, I'm a bit confused as to what I should do next...

1) Should I do Swamp or Snake first?
2) Should I train Armor or Dodging first?

1) Swamps are said to be the easiest, but it doesn't really matter since you look pretty well equipped.
2) The returns on armour skill investment are not going to be noticeable for quite some time, given your equipments' low base AC, and besides that their armour skill is lower than their dodging. So I'd stick with dodging. If you haven't been already, I would probably put more points into dex...your magic is going to be fine.

I would do snake because it's easier to get away and/or plan attacks, and train Armour first because ogre dodging with 12 dex is a bit depressing.

I feel like +5 Slaying is better than Ring of the Mage for you, because of Ashenzari and your low weapon enchantment. you can always swap to Mage as needed.

Getting some evocations or other spells (summons/charms) would be good - do get 3-4 real charms skill anyway, with the skill boost it'll make your spells much better (get the 3-4 Air for swamp, too)

Every 22/7 (so about 3.2) levels of Armour skill will give one point of AC, so maybe train Amour to 6.4 then switch to dodging? I wish there was a simple way of estimating the amount of Dodging needed for a point of EV...

I always do Snake/Spider first;
as rchandra said train armour skill, I usually start to train dodging when I get 15-16 Dex.
On some characters I simultaneously train armour and dodging.

For most characters, your bonus to EV from Dodging (at least starting out) will be your Dex / 20 points of EV per level. For big races (Tr, Na, Ce, Og) it's a little worse (I think Dex / 22), for Ha and Ko it's slightly better, and for Sp and Fe it's a lot better.

The thing that makes this somewhat opaque is the penalty from armour. Some of this penalty can be ameliorated using Armour skill, but for most characters the more important part is that there is a straight penalty to EV from Dodging that goes something like 10*encumbrance rating / Strength. This effectively introduces a threshold below which you do not see any EV gain from Dodging at all; the heavier your Armour and the less your Str, the greater that threshold becomes.

It is dex/22 for large, dex/18 for ha/ko and dex/16 for sp/fe.

Additionally, you start with 2/4 less/more ev depending on race (8 for large, 10 reg, 12 ha/ko, 14 sp/fe)

Body Armour negates ER^2*[1-roughly .015 per point of armourskill]/str+3

Or to put it more verbosely, if your str is exactly your body armor's ER-3, and your Armour skill is 0 you lose the body armour's ER in ev. Significantly lower str than that causes the ev loss to increase exponentially, higher str decreases the loss logarithmicly. Armour skill decreases this ev loss by 0-40% scaling evenly.

THEN you lose some of your dodge bonus, based on your total ER and str/Armor skill (there is also a fixed discount on this loss)

AND you lose some ev if you are using a shield and don't have enough skill...
