YAVP: Your average GrEE
Died trying countless times, now got the first win.
Decisions:
Always acquire staffs: looking for Staff of Energy (never got it). I just want some means of getting mana unconditionally. It also would free my amulet slot that was used for Gourmand. Yes, hunger is irrelevant, I just hate eating permafood after and during every fight.
Items:
Got PDA around D:5, never took it off afterwards.
Got gourmand in the Lab
Got wiz ring in L:4

Spells:
Vehumet never gave me any Earth spells. Except of his final offer: Glacier, Chain Lightning, LCS (thx a lot, bro)
On L:8 Veh offered Spellforged Servitor, ~90 fail chance with no powerful spells learned. Yeah, no.
In Orc got my midgame killing set: PA, Fireball, Delayed Fireball, BoF plus the starting book.
Never EVER casted ANY charm/necro/summinings
After collecting both Lair runes still had no lvl 8-9 spells. Decided to delay Vaults for as long as possible. No spells in dungeon, no Staff of Energy. Decided to penetrate Elf with PA. Success. Loot: Shatter, Staff of Earth. The later provided great tab damage output once relevant skills were learned. With Shutter, V:5 provided no challenge. Decided to learn Glaciate just because I could. Got it ~20% after finishing V:5.
From then on, "Glaciate Glaciate SHUTTER SHUTTER" was my war song. Cleared Zig:10 - no loot, just !exp, man of dodge, man of cold. Started studying Dodging.
On U:5 got cast into Abyss. Got the rune just for the lolz. q !cMut.
Started on getting firestorm because why not.
Easily cleared Zot: 4. no OOF in Zot: 1 - Zot: 4. Looking for places to visit before ending. Got Slime on my radar. Dived for the rune. No loot. Firestorm still around 20% failure.
Got bored, entered Zot: 5. It was MUCH easier than I expected. Couple of OOF's, each dies from 2 LCS. There are less enemies guarding the orb that there are orks in the Mines in view. What's up with that?
On my the way out, killed a panlord with 2 or 3 Glaciates.
Overall opinion
I'm glad I have won, and it was interesting to play overall.
On the downsides:
No charms blaster caster: AC 54 EV 25 SH 16, while even I can see all the magic over-training.
I've never had to choose between two items or spells, never feel a need to enter wizmode to check anything, never had to branch out in my studying (if you don't count Evocations for Crystal Ball). There were no meaningful decisions: train more magic and more armor to apply more destructive magic. To be honest, there were losses more exciting than this win, like charms casting minotaurs^Chei in heavy armour that were more interesting because of the ac vs spells dilemma. Gr are so buff, the game could not punish me for obvious mistakes.

Decisions:
Always acquire staffs: looking for Staff of Energy (never got it). I just want some means of getting mana unconditionally. It also would free my amulet slot that was used for Gourmand. Yes, hunger is irrelevant, I just hate eating permafood after and during every fight.

Got PDA around D:5, never took it off afterwards.
Got gourmand in the Lab
Got wiz ring in L:4

Spells:
Vehumet never gave me any Earth spells. Except of his final offer: Glacier, Chain Lightning, LCS (thx a lot, bro)
On L:8 Veh offered Spellforged Servitor, ~90 fail chance with no powerful spells learned. Yeah, no.
In Orc got my midgame killing set: PA, Fireball, Delayed Fireball, BoF plus the starting book.
Never EVER casted ANY charm/necro/summinings
After collecting both Lair runes still had no lvl 8-9 spells. Decided to delay Vaults for as long as possible. No spells in dungeon, no Staff of Energy. Decided to penetrate Elf with PA. Success. Loot: Shatter, Staff of Earth. The later provided great tab damage output once relevant skills were learned. With Shutter, V:5 provided no challenge. Decided to learn Glaciate just because I could. Got it ~20% after finishing V:5.
From then on, "Glaciate Glaciate SHUTTER SHUTTER" was my war song. Cleared Zig:10 - no loot, just !exp, man of dodge, man of cold. Started studying Dodging.
On U:5 got cast into Abyss. Got the rune just for the lolz. q !cMut.
Started on getting firestorm because why not.
Easily cleared Zot: 4. no OOF in Zot: 1 - Zot: 4. Looking for places to visit before ending. Got Slime on my radar. Dived for the rune. No loot. Firestorm still around 20% failure.
Got bored, entered Zot: 5. It was MUCH easier than I expected. Couple of OOF's, each dies from 2 LCS. There are less enemies guarding the orb that there are orks in the Mines in view. What's up with that?
On my the way out, killed a panlord with 2 or 3 Glaciates.
Overall opinion
I'm glad I have won, and it was interesting to play overall.
On the downsides:
No charms blaster caster: AC 54 EV 25 SH 16, while even I can see all the magic over-training.
I've never had to choose between two items or spells, never feel a need to enter wizmode to check anything, never had to branch out in my studying (if you don't count Evocations for Crystal Ball). There were no meaningful decisions: train more magic and more armor to apply more destructive magic. To be honest, there were losses more exciting than this win, like charms casting minotaurs^Chei in heavy armour that were more interesting because of the ac vs spells dilemma. Gr are so buff, the game could not punish me for obvious mistakes.
