YAVP - HOBe of Trog (13 runes)

Originally I wanted to save HO for the 0.15 tournament, but I became impatient. This time I wanted to try Trog in extended. The goal: 15 runes, all the way with Trog. I chose axes, because of HO aptitudes, and I never tried them anyway.

First try: lethally poisoned by a kobold with a dagger of poison on D:3. Oh well, OK. Second try: lethally poisoned by a goblin with a dagger of poison on D:1. Hey, what is going on here?!

Third try: the early game went smoothly. I found a freezing battleaxe (lucky!) that served me in Lair. Slowing all cold-blooded snakes and frogs is awesome. Then I switched to Trog's gift, an elec battleaxe. Found a chain mail with MR, that gave me MR+++ (with a ring), so all is well.

The loot I found was good in general, but with two big holes: I never found a ring of regen and a ring of ctele. After I had haste and hw wands, I acquired armour, and got a +1 CPA. I even upgraded it to +6, when, in the Depths, the Enchantress gave me this:

With this, I lost a bit of my AC + EV score, but it became more balanced. In CPA, it was like 50 + 15, while in the FaerieDA it was 30 + 30 (not exact numbers, but about right). The rC++ tipped the scale in favour of the latter.
Tomb was a bit shaky (I picked up a dopey (-2 Int) mutation, and with 5 Int the statdraining death curses were dangerous even with sustab on. Next was Pan: the toughest encounter was Gloorx, who tormented happily, I even had to run away (cblink) the first time. The second time he went down.

The Hells were much tougher. The absence of spells hurt here more than anywhere else (there were occasions in Coc where I could have just apported the rune and leave, but instead I had to fight.) Both Coc:7 and Tar:7 were very tough.

After that, I realized that I'm running out of resources. My piety went down, and I was very low of both haste and hw wand charges, with the 2 toughest Hells left. So I took the wise (cowardly) decision, and let them be, went to Zot:5 to win.

The ascension was not hard, but the very end almost got me killed. A Pan lord camped at the exit on D:1, and it had a very strong Glaciate. It was a tough fight, but I succeeded, and won.

My 36th win, 21st online. First Hill Orc.

I've actually found Coc and Tar the hardest hells as a berserker because of their lords. Antaeus mangles you and Ereshkigal can just keep healing herself.

I'd have stuck with the CPA.

Congrats on getting the win and not stubbornly dying, though. At least you didn't run out of things to train.

(I met the Enchantress for the first time today in my latest game, and got my first ever faerie dragon armor. It's +0, and only slay+4, but whatever, it was nice to see it finally. You got a nice one!)
