I have been working on the great and greater player achievements, so I have been trying to keep my combinations as diverse as possible. The rng said that high elf should be next, and since I did not have a particular race in mind for conjurer I decided to give it a shot. I have been having a particularly obnoxious time with some of my recent combo wins (KoAK, TeAE, OgHu) such that I thought this was going to be another one. Much to my surprise and delight I was able to knock it out first try, and found the entire game to be pretty smooth and easy.

I found mottled dragon armour in D:11 just before Lair and ended up using that for most of the game. Also ended up with a serious of good mutations, and got some better ones through a large batch of potions of ben. mut. in a wizard's lab. Also picked up deterioration there, but decided to roll with it, as i liked clever 1 a bit too much to risk it. My defenses were weak for a while, particularly from a charms perspective, but raiding Elf:1 and Elf:2 and coming back later for Elf:3 totally turned it around. I even got banished to the Abyss in the Vaults and picked up a wand of heal wounds and book of Party Tricks during my brief stay. Very nice of them to give me some gifts.

Never found a scroll of acquirement so I could not grab wands of haste or teleportation, but frankly it did not matter, I only had to use healing potions once or twice the entire game, and only felt like I was in danger in about that many times.
