YAVSD - DsAK: Why am I such an ass

This has got to be one of my dumbest and most avoidable in a long string of dumb and avoidable deaths. I don't think I'm a bad player, really, I'm a good player who's often sloppy -- which obviously amounts to the same thing. I know what I should be doing both in the game and out of it (to keep my head) and yet I keep actually doing shit like this: killed by an orange rat, ugh, the fucking ignominy.

And with an early whip of elec, rank-two demonic guardian (sixfirhies, sun and smoke demons were decimating yak packs) and -- ye gods -- that amulet, no less.

Why didn't I reposition before engaging the rats? Why didn't I cut and run the moment I got drained? I could have bent space, I could have blinked, I could have teleported, I could have taken two steps back, I could have done anything except stand there -- not even smug, not even overconfident, just fucking lazy -- assuming that I'd fry them before anything bad happened.

Ugh. What an ass.

Set your low hitpoint warning to 51%.
Set your lifebar to turn yellow at 99%, lightred at 75% and red at 51%.
When starting any encounter that isn't snore tier, think to yourself what you would do if your HP starts dropping (the best route to a staircase off the level, what consumables/spells/abilities would be applicable, etc)
When you drop below 75% hp, start retreating or make sure it's possible to at the drop of a hat.
When you drop below 51% hp, start burning consumables to make sure you survive, don't wait any longer.

I've noticed that getting drained has the effect of making me play more stupidly and recklessly. Even though draining isn't usually a big deal, it's very annoying for some reason. I get the feeling that I have to get the required experience as fast as possible, which makes me careless.

One of my "favourite" stupid deaths was when I played an OpAK and just had to take a constriction contest with an anaconda on Snake:1.

Anyway, I think that posting YASDs is a good way of getting better. Shame is a powerful thing :)
