I hope that no one minds my repeated monk topics. It is my favorite class and is what I have spent the most time trying to master.

The odd thing about this character, besides the fabulous ring of slaying, is its training of armor skill over dodging. I have had the latter let me down a few too many times, and overall I just can't seem to get it to high enough levels to be reliable by the time I reach lair or so when I really need it to be. So, being a bit fed up with EV and wanting to try something different, I trained armor instead, and rose strength on every third level over dexterity. It seems to be doing well enough. Stoneskin is almost decently castable in chain mail, my attack speed is still above average, and unlike most of my monks at this level I'm not having too much trouble killing hydras without resorting to wands so long as they don't have too many heads.

After finding the mottled dragon hide and using my only scroll to enchant it, I turned off armor and switched over to dodging. For now, I am still using the plate, as it provides the same amount of fire resistance and is better suited to my build at the moment.

Any thoughts?

If you need something to dump enchant weapon into as unarmed, you can use it on a blowgun if you've found/in anticipation of curare.
No point carrying cure mutation around, unless you're doing a speedrun - you're never going to need to quaff cure mutation 'right away', and monsters don't drink it, so you can just leave it wherever. Better than having it shatter in your inventory and going :(
Same goes for amnesia and enchant and acquire of course.

Also, IIRC shield is no good for unarmed combat, because the shield ALWAYS adds a certain amount of delay to your attacks, it can't be removed entirely by skills. I might be thinking of ranged combat though, so don't quote me.

Shield adds 0-0.1 per attack even Shields 27 but average delay from plate armour is higher anyway.
