I would personally go axe cause I love acquiring weapons (and you could use a boost in that department).

I think the most common advice is to acquire wands or armour. There are situations where other things can be good (gold if you found a good shop, for example), but personally, I'd go armour here.

That's a good advice, but personally I would still be tempted to get food. Oklobs are just so much fun...

I'd wear the +3 ac ring over sustenance (actually, I'd wear any ring instead of sustenance and a +3 ac ring over 95% of other rings).

Plus, if you wanna win I'd start to decide what to train: you can't train early on melee skils and magic ones, otherwise by the time of lair you'll have crappy offensive tools and crappier defences and unable to kill a yak, let alone dangerous enemies.

Considering I suppose you're investing on int and you've found geomancy , I'd say to keep training only conjuration and earth until lrd is online and stone arrow has a good spellpower, then do whatever.

A good axe (read: branded battleaxe) is easier to find than /haste. You're guaranteed one after your first frost giant and usually get one before in my experience. On the other hand, most of /haste wands I find come from acquiring them. This character has /heal wounds already, which makes /haste (or /teleport, also good) more likely.
