YAVP - Lava Orc Berserker
[rant]So I was feeling pretty annoyed. Lost my 100% streak account megabat on the 14th char, DSWz. Streak on CDO if you want to look. Tried speedrunning a HOPr - died on zot 5. Tried some SpAr divers for fun, then lost a realtime speedrun with a bot/human hybrid with the bot half played by elliptic's autorobin, died at L18 FeBe with 3 runes at D:23 after 51 mins.[/rant]

Started a nice Lava Orc Berserker of Trog. Got pretty lucky, if I'm honest. The game started nicely, a gnoll pack on D:1 which made my temperature rise but it was dispatched quickly after a berserk. Game ran smoothly until I couldn't believe my luck. +1 CPM in a shop on D:4 :O I added it to my shopping list. This was going to be a good game... and then I couldn't believe it. Another CPM lying on the ground on D:5. Well, I forgot all about the first one and wore it. AC 20-odd from the get-go
Stonemail was good early on and I dived the main dungeon until Trog gave me his first gift - the obsidian axe. Well, I've never used it before so I swung it this way and that, getting mesmerised this way and that
and this got me up a few levels, to xl15. I entered vaults, then realised I hadn't done lair, so I went back. Did lair to snake, and switched weapons because the mesmerisation was getting annoying.
At some time around here I found an ice cave which had an ice fiend easily dispatched with a timely berserk and rewarded me 2 cloaks of cold res I donned the +2 one. With one of my axes my lava orc now had rC+++; the perfect counterpart to the inherent rF+++. Well, with my resists sorted I dived into snake and with a little trouble I got the rune.
Found a large shield on snake:5 so I donned it. Then I went and cleared orc for a little shield skill and back to vaults, cleared to vault:7 with little trouble, and found the shield of resistance. With my MR sorted and finding decent rings I (at some point) bought clarity on orc:4 for the demon axe; this apparently doesn't stop mesmerisation

Well my LO decided now would be a good time to do V:8; after all I had close to 40 AC (over if cold but not if hot). I zerked the v:8 entrance but it didn't go to plan and I couldn't blink out :S so I had to use a wand of tele I'd luckily found. I had all 3 good wands by the end due to a lucky wand acquirement to find hasting and an early wand of healing in a store. Shadow dragons went down to zerk and everything went down pretty nicely through melee, I acquired the rune without too much trouble, after I remembered to wear rElec vs Storm Dragons!
Anyway I decided to go and get the swamp rune now, I did it with little trouble Hydras were not much of a threat compared to V:8 and the lernaean hydra didn't show himself. I now had 3 runes so I secured all necessary equipment and dived for zot! I found a vault with a +1 helmet {Dam+3} which was very nice but nothing else good on the descent.
With no tele control I thought zot would be a problem, but my rF+++ rC++ rPois rElec sorted zot, plus the lucky zot stairs and magic mapping. Zot:5 had a few encounters with ancient liches but zerk + antimagic soon sorted them out. I acquired the orb and raced for the top relishing my fastest win ever Hopefully more to come. Lava Orcs are a pretty strong race.
