CiP : OpVM, what to do ?

Here is my current char, I was very lucky with mutations, as they give some nice AC for my fragile Octopode. That balances with the ridiculous number of rings I found in this game...
Thing is I don't know what to do !
What spell should I be using to deal with enemies ? Poison is less and less useful due to monster resistance. IOOD makes me too hungry. Fireball is not very powerful...

I would forget Fire Storm, and learn Venom Bolt and Poisonous Cloud. PC is a very good spell. Venom Bolt is not so good, but you don't have Bolt of Fire and unlike Fireball it doesn't make too much noise.

OTR is useful in Spider, but you already have enough levels of Poison Magic. I would train Long Blades, Stealth, and more Dodging (or perhaps Shields).

You would never use Firestorm at all ? Or at least not now ?
And should I really train Long Blades as a spellcaster ? A staff would be better no ?

Edit : what Summoning spell should I learn if I want it to be useful endgame and extended...

Fire storm is not very useful at 98% failure rate. You get no benefit having it on this character at this point; even potion of brilliance won't make it usable.

You have a book of wizardry—get haste!

Shadow creatures is a great spell that requires minimal investment. Of course summon butterflies is really good too (though not for directly killing dudes).

As CommanderC said, Venom Bolt is good enough to hold you over until better spells are online.

You could use fire storm on this guy *eventually* but I would recommend worrying about that only when your defenses are great (dodging and fighting) and you have that demon blade at min delay. I would also prioritize getting any of these spells reliable before investing the experience needed to get fire storm online: poisonous cloud, freezing cloud, bolt of fire, iron shot, poison arrow, apportation, blink, control teleport, controlled blink, phase shift, death's door, borgnjor's revivification.


EDIT: Forgot some obvious ones like repel/deflect missiles but you get the idea.

I'm thinking to Shadow Creatures since I have a Manual of Summoning.
I'll forget Inner Flame because I don't really use it...

Still wondering if it's a good idea to train LBlades... I really feel like spellcasters already have so much to train...

Thanks for the spell-list, I'll learn Freezing Cloud to have another type of elemental damage, wondering about Poisonous cloud at this point of the game...
Iron shot can maybe replace IOOD ,though I like the spell !
No Poison Arrow, nor good Translocation spells...
