OgBe: which armour for extended?

My second relatively successful ogre has been gifted by Trog of an awesome randart GDC:

the -1,+6 giant spiked club "Groi" {god gift, vamp, rElec rF+ rC++ MR SInv}

It grants every resist I practically need, has a decent dam bonus and it's marvelously vampiric.
The problem is: should I wield it? I have about 25 food rations scattered around in the dungeon, but I remember my OgHu who survived till Vault:8 had some food problems, so I'm afraid they couldn't be enough.
Furthermore, wielding it would mean stopping using berserk, which I'm not sure it's worthy, even in exchange for a vamp weapon.

All others weapon available are in the dump - btw, very weird game: Trog has gifted me a lot of nice randart weapons, but no anti-magic gc or gsc (only great maces!)

I would use the vampiric GSC. If you get to a point that there are, say 5 total rations available (including shops - maybe buy them out first?), stop. And of course when you start wanting the antimagic/holy swaps.

Nice rings. Also, do you have a big problem with drinking your robes?

Simply put, that's an amazing GSC, worthy of the endgame (and it can take you there if nothing else). I'd say if you can get the food to support it, you should use it. Though you can swap it out when fighting nonliving creatures.

One option that could help, since are wearing robes, would be to take a couple levels of spellcasting and necro, just to get animate dead. The main food issue with a vamp weapon is unwielding and re-wielding, so utilizing the old Ashenzari's cookbook trick seems a good plan.

He follows Trog, I'm pretty sure using animate skele costs piety if not penances him.

Casting a spell put right in penance while training magical skill has an (heavy) piety cost, so animate skeletons is out of question. Webtiles seems again down, so I don't know if I'll have a chance to equip this GSC :cry:

I did not say it was a good idea, only that there is a way he could have his chunks and eat them too. Of course, I like playing the mutation roulette game anyways solely because it makes the game more interesting. But I am in no way endorsing this as optimal play, and it should have been perfectly clear from the start.

I also knew about fangs, but I left it out because I pretty much never get the 3rd tier of any mutation unless I start with a race that automatically has/gets mutations and/or I am worshiping Xom.

I'm actually using the vampiric gsc and ravaging the Dungeon mercilessly - Trog is so proud of me that he's keeping to gift awesome randart among the usual great pile of useless rubbish, including another vamp gsc -the +5,+9 giant spiked club "Enwextil" {god gift, vamp, +Inv}.
Strangely enough, no anti-magic gsc or even gc has been gifted yet, I wonder if I'm really worshiping Trog.

Anyway, this Ogre is doing so great I'm thinking to do extended too - the only big problem is I haven't find any decent randart, so I'm not sure what armour should I use.
I'm actually using a +1 fda, because the rc- is nicely offset by the rc++ of the gsc; but in extended I'm going with TSO so I'm going to use a holy gsc - maybe the one Trog gifted me: the +3,+7 giant spiked club of the Wasp {god gift, holy, Dex+1 Stlth++}

! - so I can't really going around in Rc- or even without rc.
I could switch to a +1gda I've found in Vault:8, but it isn't obviously very good: in fda I've 29AC/13EV, while in GDA 37AC/5EV.
Furthermore, it would insanely cripple spellcasting: even with all the exp put in magic (I've no other skill which I have to train), I 'd need to wait a lot before having haste, c-blink and company castable!
My other option is a mottled dragon hide.
So, what's the best choice could be? Keep in mind I've only 3 scrolls of enchant armour.

I would wear the GDA and not cast spells for a very long time (if ever), particularly if you have a wand of hasting. Note you do have another use for exp with TSO: Invocations!
Even in FDA haste/cblink will take some time. You have such a nice Armour skill, it would be a shame to waste it switching back to mottled.

I'd also wonder if Elyvilon is better for this character.

edit: I should add that by "spells" I mean L5+ spells, low level stuff should be fine for you. Blink, Swiftness, cTele, etc.

Oh, right - I've forgotten I haven't trained invo yet! Unfortunately no wand of hasting yet (!), so I'd need the spell quite badly...

Why Ely? Farming the piety in extended probably takes forever, her power aren't great against demons; I'd go with TSO - or Zin, at least in Hells and Zot:5 if I don't find a rmut either.

Ely is actually very good in extended and anyone who says otherwise probably has not tried worshipping Ely in extended (also basically any 345 is easily pacifiable with lesser healing and 27 invo), but worshipping TSO first to build up piety and get a holy weapon makes sense.

If your plan is to kill everything then usually TSO is better but Ely will always give you better survivability than TSO will, if you invest in invocations enough (TSO is fine with 11-ish invo, with Ely you want at least 20+).

I've played with Ely only seldom in normal game, my common approach in fact is "BASH THINGS, RWARGH!", so TSO in extended is pretty much an obligated choice.
Anyway I may give Ely a try, but after going with TSO - I really don't need a holy weapon considering I've a +3,+7 holy gsc, but in that way I could train invo easier - but I'm sure I'll miss hp-on-kill, it so so satisfactory!
