YAVP: HaBe, I've worn this armour...

I'm currently enjoying an easy character, hoping to do a decent streak this time. As Elynae has recently told me slings are totally overpowered, I've tried a HaBe - and, dammit!, he was totally right. I've tabbed almost every enemy in game. Name something (except Mennas and Boris, they're still a problem lurking around)a HaBe can reliably shot him to death!
I've just cleared most of the dungeon, easily collecting my 3 runes - I was trying the artefact spawned in V:8, when I've worn this:
the +8 splint mail of the Stars (worn) {rElec rF++ rC+ Str+3 Int+3}

Ok, splint mail isn't usually considered a good type of armour, but only with this little jewel I gain more resist than I'd actually need for Zot, a decent AC (22), while still keeping a nice EV (32)!
My only (big) doubt, as I've never bother to understand the rules about armour, is if this armour could impairs my combat ability significantly: my armour skill is non-existent, so I fear the penalty could be great.
On the other hand, I believe my other skills have a more than decent value, so I could disable everything except armour skill and use the huge amount of exp provided by zot:1-4 to be totally ready for zot:5 - I should be able to invis-stab 95% of inhabitants of zot.

So, what do the blue names suggest to do?

How much enchant armour do you have? Because that splint mail is still worse than a +10 plate armour, or a +8 fire dragon armour. Of course, I notice you are wearing a -1 pair of boots, so the answer is probably zero.

I've actually 7 scrolls of enchant armour, the boots has just been corroded by a brown ugly thing in V:8 I forgot to polymorph (tab smashing stupidity).
So I currently could get a +6 fire dragon armour, swap my boots of stealth for the +2 boots of lev, and have rf+++, no rc, while swapping when necessary my ring with relec.
Or, I possibly could get a +X plate armour of fire resist (there are a lot of branded ones in dungeons, so there should be at least one with rf+), get rf++, rc+ and swap relec when necessary.
Or I could keep this armour, enchant my boots of stealth and my helm to +2, having most likely the highest ac, and all the resist all the time.
I think the third hypothesis is the right choice, am I wrong?

Anyway, as I was eager to win with this character, I've proceed to Zot wearing the artefact armour, without waiting other opinions, sorry for being impatient. As I've expected, it was a joke, including Zot:5 . The only difficult moment was due to my hubris, because I started to tab the Orb Guardians in the Chamber without positioning myself well - obliviously I couldn't stand against all those, so I had to teleport - right in LOS of an orange statue, an ancient lich, an orb of fire, an electric golem, a killer clown and some draconian, all awaken. Fortunately, the second teleport kick in quickly and drop me in a safe place (5 tiles away from the initial position, but meanwhile the Orb Guardians had moved ).

Oh, it's also my 20th victory, and my 3rd streak - I hope I can get at least a 3 victory one, this time
