So I've been away a long time, I used to play a lot of DEFE characters. Got a couple of 15 rune runs on those. I also like an OpTm / OpFi with transmutations, finished a 15 rune run a couple of years back with one of those. I came home tonight and started playing my current Op game and had a close call in the shoals, so thought I'd put it down for a bit and try something out. Someone suggested DjFE to me, because I was saying I couldn't get on with the new fire spells.

Anyway, I'm having a BLAST (No pun intended) this is so much fun to play. Feels insanely powerful, although I did get super lucky with an amulet of regen on like D:2 and some other nice items. Still not sure how I do long range damage, but thats kind of interesting I guess. No more fireballing everything from edge of LOS! But having such high fire resistance and burning everything (including myself!) using inner flame is really fun.

Just finished Lair 4. Avoiding rupert for now. Thought I'd mention it here because of how much fun im having!

Im using manifold assault, but this is the first time I've played this kind of character. I'm using inner flame on enemies, then manifold assault and other damage spells to create clouds of chaos. Which weapon do you think is the best, and should I train the weapon skill even though I'm not really using it the traditional way?

This is nice because its +10 and vorpal for extra damage

But the great sword has higher base damage and is vampiric...Although if i remember right, the +10 kinda makes up for the base damage difference, right?

The falchion is good for now, and you can keep your shield on with it. Personally, I would train some weapon skill anyway, because it's nice to be able to kill stuff in melee as well.
(I would also use that enchant armour scroll now rather than save it for later...)

Manifold Assault is interesting for Dj^Mak because it gives you the option of switching from an int-focussed approach to a dex-focus. You have enough dex to pull it off. And it makes you far less dependend on RNG and waiting for new spells from XLs.
But if you're getting a great sword to mindelay and also casting your level 8/9 spells, you'd probably have been stronger if you'd let go of one of those 2 and instead put more xp into defence. That said, I might do it myself anyway, for funz.

If you're going to use that great sword, you need to enchant it and get it to mindelay. It will be great, for as long as your enemies are alive. Manifold Assault uses your attack stats (including the to-hit), so you need to get to mindelay and get a good enchantment if you want it to be truly powerful.

I'd save the enchant armour scrolls for ice dragon scales.
