Coming off the win of my tabber Minotaur, of course I want to go back to my comfort playstyle of blaster-mager. Instead of the usual DECj I roll with, decided to go with the old challenge pick of Mummy. Good RNG from the last run still hasn't run out as floorgod has blessed me with so many good things for this character (rF+ robe, MP regen ammy, staff of power, armor slots, etc). Then I find a Battlesphere book, and thus RNGsus has decreed me 'too lucky', and has begun sending divine agents of death against me! First with a busy D:10 feat. Maurice, a gargoyle, unseen horror, and two-head ogre. Then skeltal warriors on the Lair entrance. Then the old Lair:2 death yak pack. Can't wait to see what other insanity RNGsus will call down upon me next :evil:

The luck lasted for this character evidently, as I went on to do the full 15! Got some hella randarts by the end of it, having near perfect resistances to everything. Was able to kill all the hell & pan lords no problem. Took awhile to get Glaciate up and running but once I did it became the go-to kill everything spell. Also notable was heavy use of Darkness; it's an excellent spell to have on all the time, since it effectively increases the range of all your conjurations. I even did a few levels of Zigg, but had to bail after getting the mummy floor. All in all, a successful 15 runer.

Would you say that mummies are not that horrible after you survive early game? What was your biggest "pain in the ass" while playing a mummy?

Yeah I would say that Mu are a 'late game carry' type of race; awful early game, but get past it and you'll have a lot of useful intrinsics to survive late. At some points where I got low HP warnings, I wished I could quaff some potions but somehow managed to make it out of those situations with scrolls and whatever spells I had. I guess biggest PITA aside from potions & rF- is how long it takes to train skills; being a DECj main, the -2s across the board are rough.

It's really not that good. rPois doesn't matter on Mu, rN doesn't matter on Mu, MP+9 doesn't matter on anything, Int-4 is bad and rF+++ is nice (though rF++ is sufficient).

When running is an option, the correct answer is always running. Boots of running are one of the best items in the game for any species that isn't inherently fast.
