YASD - soon! Mennas Mara St. Roka all on one level!

Okay, not even remotely fair... On Vault:4, I find Mara. I'm pretty badass, he's sleeping, I'll try to stab him - he wakes up, we tussle, I run back up stairs.

Back down another stair - there's Mennas! I don't realize right off the bat, I fight him a bit - it gets worse. It's hard to escape because he keeps casting silence. Finally I manage to teleport to the other side of the map. All I see are a few orcs, sleeping yet!

I just try to step out of their LOS so I can rest without being noticed. Oops, I was confused from Mennas still and step forward instead, and Saint Roka comes into view.

I'm totally save scumming if I don't survive this...

Rightfully so! Fight back against the vengeful RNG. :p

Don't mess with Roka. Teleport while you can.
I've died too many times from his smiting.

If you save scum, and then manage to kill them in a few tries, you wouldn't care so much for you character anymore.
It's better to die and start over.

Okay, I managed to get away!

How badassed do you need to be to take these guys on? I'm level 23 and my weapon skills are about as good as they get. I think I can take Roka because he's not magical, and maybe Mennas with my sling (+4,+10 sling (Blink, Venom,), bracers of archery and +5 steel bullets), because I think the blink will still work when silenced.

Btw, I didn't save scum.

Roka was far enough away that I had time to:
- Drink healing to get rid of confusion
- do a random blink as he was right next to me
- read a scroll of blinking to get way out of LOS
- find a quiet corner and read magic mapping
- head down the nearest staircase!

But seriously, all three of those guys on one level? I've never met any of them before, and heard of them all as the beastliest uniques in the game.

I don't think I'll try to fight them, the chance of death is not worth the XP.

My main difficulty was that when I teleported next to Roka, I was confused, slow, fatigued, and at 40/168 HP. So I didn't even try. With forty HP his smite alone could have done me in pretty quick, and he had some priest buddies.

He's worth more HP than the others, which seems odd because smite is his main ranged attack, unless he can cast it every turn yeah I think I could take him more easily than Mara.

How do you handle Mara? He turns into multiple illusions and blinks around. Mennas I think should be doable with my +4+10 sling of blinking, +5 steel bullets and bracers of archery.

I've got Mara and Roka waiting for me right now on Vault 6 - maybe Mennas too, I've only been down stairs and back up again very quickly.

Okay, I came back up from Vault:8 and wiped all three out without much trouble.

Mennas was an ordinary fight - softened with my sling and then finished with melee.
St. Roka was sleeping, I stabbed him to 10% HP and he was easy to finish after that.
Mara was the same story as St. Roka. Fortunately he was sleeping just around a corner so I was able to get very close before entering LOS and so he didn't wake up.

Yay for stealthy berserkers. HaBe is really growing on me. Stealth + Shields + Dodging + Slings is a really well rounded combo. I might try a halfling of Okawaru next though, because my armour situation is not as good as my weapon situation.

Oh - I think my boots of running are a real good boost too.
