YAVP: DsCo of Ash

After far too many splats, I finally managed a win with a hybrid caster/basher, though I didn't start out with such a char in mind. I'd planned to go pure caster, but the Powered by Death/Pain mutations an an early war axe of elec made melee irresistible. Taking advantage of Ash's retraining flexibility, I moved over to Long Blades and the Plutonium Sword late, which supplemented by Bolt of Cold and Battlesphere carried me through Zot comfortably. A few scary moments on the Orb run, but nothing too dramatic otherwise. Thought about going extended, but decided that ultimately, the biggest, baddest sword just couldn't compensate for my low Strength and poor casting aptitudes, not to mention that the Powered by Death mutation that had carried me through many a potentially bad situation would have been largely useless.

First Ds win, first Ash game period, and overall, the experience was fun. I've always liked the idea of Ds, but was just never good enough to get far with them. Feel like I might have hit the mutation lottery with this one, though there are likely better combos one could roll.
