YASD Demonspawn Wizard Martial Artist

Got a really interesting mix of mutations including claws, hooves, powered by death, powered by pain with an amulet of guardian spirit. Feels like a really solid start to me. My general strategy is to use my spells up front before wading in and brawling. Should I take off my boots to get the hooves bonus to Unarmed Combat? They provide stats and fire resist because of Chei. I did try on gloves and didn't like those being on, especially since it makes you remove your gloves to chop a corpse with claws.

Chei is all about stats. Taking off the gloves or boots is a bad idea imo.

I guess I could wear gloves and boots until they fall off if my claws or hooves goes up to 3. Then I would get the bonus from chei and the bonus to UC, right?

no u need all 5 slots if u loose 1 slot ur loosing +5 stats to all bonus.
The flail fails to defends itself.
You open the flail like a pillowcase!!!

I just found "shiny dragon armour" in a shop. with no armour skill and low strength (although boosted by chei a bit) and an unarmed combat character is this just a tease or could it be worth trying to make that work with the dragon king armour?

I have noticed that I still get the bleed effect of the claws even while wearing gloves. Think that's a bug?

haven't had a ton of time to play in the last few days but here's the same guy after getting his first rune in the snake pit. Passage of Golubria was nice there because I could use it if a naga cast teleport on me and then make another gate where i ended up and be right back where i wanted to be. I'm working on conj/air hoping to get to tornado, but I never get to 9th level spells for some reason. Maybe I spend too much time on combat skills. Is there a minimum delay on unarmed combat or should i just leave that skill on forever?

more questions:
i've been using a buckler and have skill 5 - also I mutated into hooves 3 so the boots fell off. should i stop using the buckler because of UC? Also Khufu is right near the crypt 1 stairs with a bunch of other nasties. Think i should just skip crypt?

You *may* want to consider abandoning Chei if you lose 2 equip slots. That's a HUGE loss in his bonuses.

Yeah have hooves 3 and antennae 3 now, and claws might go to 3 still. I think if claws go to 3 I'll pick a new god. Ideas on the best switch? I'm thinking makhleb maybe.

I've never played Chei, but won't switching gods force you to lose all of your gear, given that it's all ponderous?

i've been using a buckler and have skill 5 - also I mutated into hooves 3 so the boots fell off. should i stop using the buckler because of UC?

No. Buckler doesn't make your UC that much worse. :)
