So I've taken up crawling again after taking a long break and trying some other rougelikes, and I've started up a new character that's actually gotten somewhere. His name is Morul the Black, and he is of course a DDNe of Kiku. So, first I think I should show my dump:

I'm a bit stumped about his character development from this point on. The katana I bought is definitely pointing me to an EV-based hybrid, so should I start raising DEX from now on? Of course, I plan to pain brand the katana unless I find a double/triple sword in the time I get to max piety. However, I also found the +0 ring mail of the Vestibule of Hell, which has a decent DEX and INT bonus. Should I start branching into Heavy Armor, or should I stay with light? With the ring mail, all of my current spells are still at Excellent so it could be usable.

Yes, use that ring mail. :)

I think you can raise your DEX once or twice. You usually can find some nice randarts which raise your DEX, so don't think too much about raising your DEX.

Alright everyone, thanks, I'll start using the ring mail since it helps with using the katana anyways due to the DEX bonus. I think the INT bonus was three or four, and that's on top of the other randart I found, so casting should be fine.

@minmay Maybe, but I still wanted some of the other spells, although I suppose Makhleb was a good (and maybe better) choice as well. It was the pain brand that was the main reason I wanted Kiku though, and if I can survive long enough to brand the katana I think I should be able to do pretty well.
