CIP- DDIE of Kiku

Hello people. I am greatly enjoying this game, it is the first time I feel I have really got the hang of operating a DD. Vampiric Draining is an absolute godsend (or Kikusend, I suppose). Anyway, I am basically trooping around with a zombie army, combined with using Throw Icicle or meleeing from behind the front row with the glaive. I am currently raising Conjurations to make the Icicle more deadly and also in the hope of finding a book with Freezing Cloud. I don't currently have my books on me, but my next spell targets will probably be Dispel Undead and Twisted Resurrection; I'm pretty sure I have enough Necro for those. I will probably use the Acquirement for cash, in the hope that the Orc shops will have books or some great armour.

My main query regards what to do when I reach 6* piety. The pain brand seems to be generally recommended for short blades due to speed, so I am unsure whether it is a good idea to get it on a polearm. I know that I'm soon going to encounter monsters that hit very hard, so I do like the reaching tactic, but I also know that I'll be needing to put points in my weapon skill soon if I'm to carry on as a hybrid, so I'd really appreciate thoughts on this.

If you're not stabbing then a spear of pain is like a shortblade of pain except with reaching (so it's even better). Trident of pain is about as good.

Oh, that is good to know. Assuming I don't throw this char away like I did my DsIE (XL 25, cruising through everything, forgot to renew my flight and drowned in Shoals, ultimate YASD) this will only be the second time I've reached max Kiku piety, so I wasn't sure. Cheers.

I'm far, far better with IE than any other class for some reason.

I question training Conj much further at present. You know you are going to get a pain brand spear in the near future but you don't know when you'll get Freezing Cloud. Get a spear to min.delay first, throw icicle is serviceable for now as your army is there to cover for its slack.
