FR: Strikethrough

Hi,

Pardon my ignorance of forum software, but would it be easy or difficult to add [s]strikethrough[/s] BBCode tags?

This seems really useful for GDD posts where the initial post is repeatedly updated after feedback.

(Or alternatively, if we already have strikethrough, could someone please tell me how to add it to my posts? Thanks!)

From what I can tell, standard phpBB doesn't have this functionality. I imagine Napkin (or maybe njvack?) could add it in, as the phpBB website suggests a few ways to do it.

I'm the kind of obnoxious person who would actually have an opinion about this, so I've never really liked strikethrough; it's a clumsy way to digitally represent an analog habit. In practice, it's only used humorously or to passive-aggressively indicate that you're "taking back what you said." For the most part, it's better to rely on a) built-in revision histories, as one sees with facebook or google docs, b) documenting your edits manually, or c) placing old versions of content behind something like spoiler tags.

Of course, I'm hardly going to stand in the way if one of the forum admins wants to go to the trouble of adding it to the Tavern.
