"General Chat" forum

I kinda want to keep things completely unrelated to Stone Soup outside of Crazy Yiuf's corner.

SO CAN WE HAVE ONE? PLEASE?

I don't know - I used to be involved at the axisandallies.org forum and the "other" forums became hotbeds of political strife that started spilling over into other parts of the forum (as in, certain factions hated each others guts because they were fascists / liberals / whatever.

On the other hand, I'm part of a forum where the general chat section is huge, and everyone likes each other due to the moderators, and their one, important rule: "Friendship is Paramount". There are other rules but they aren't important. (there was one that temporarily made it so that any characters in the webcomic the forum was about could only be insulted by being called a "mean old duck", or in extreme cases "pilweef")

I'm against it. We have enough traffic as it is and I really don't see the point of it.

It is my personal and unchangeable opinion that there should be a section for conversations of all forms, so long as they are not breaking the forum rules (porn, illegal stuff).

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but we're by no means required to share them. :p

There's a little wiggle room in crazy yuif's forum, where things that are only partially related to crawl will be tolerated, and off course you can discuss anything you want via pm.

But other than that, the whole point of this place is to talk shop. I mean, I have lots of people I can talk to about normal things. But no one ever wants to hear about your latest awesome roguelike character, even the few who know what I'm talking about. So... I come here.

My other concern is that if we opened it up, I would spend three times as much time here than I already do, debating evolution or abortions or stem cell research or the existence of actual god(s).

Anyhow - that's three mods against it. I don't see it happening unless some stunning new argument is hidden up someone's sleeve.
