It's just the few first D floors that are hard with Tm. With UC 10 and reliable spider form it's quite strong, so unless you have terrible casting/unarmed apts or are a Mf that found a halberd on XL1 etc. it's better to stay true.

I remember this one game where Haste was already removed from book of Enchantments, but I found a randart book with it in a shop. It costed 3610 gold though, and it wasn't a particularly greedy shop, and the book didn't have other good high level spells.
