IIRC, lightning attacks' damage is extremely variable -- it can really rock you, or it can do just a couple points. See the Spell Lab spreadsheet (stickied at the top of the forum) for complete details.

I doubt it was un-id'd; my current char has an amulet with -TELE on it (rElec, how we love you) and sometimes I forget about that, too.

'z' and 'a' are right next to each other. This does not mean that 'zd' (Animate Dead) do anything remotely similar to 'ad' (Summon Greater Servant).
