Re: Race suggestion: Goblin

FWIW i've won this game hundreds of times... I wouldn't even bother to bring that up in a conversation about game mechanics, normally. I dont think the argument holds any water, that goblins need to be welcoming to all playstyle types, and certainly the idea that "picking an archer" is som...

You don't roll anything, starting stats are fixed. Backgrounds are a starting kit, they don't strictly define or restrict your eventual character development. There is no restriction on melee vs magic in this game: a "blaster mage" can easily and effectively wield a two-handed longsword, a...

He also used a ton of poison in the early game, a ton of lightning bolt and blink in the middle game, and a ton of tornado and blink in the late game. So killing things at range and keeping distance between himself and monsters were priority for this character. Go figure.

Crawl species are not meant to be balanced. As it is, constriction (+ stealth) is a major boost in the early game, and octopodes can be fairly powerful later on if you win the jewelry lottery. I think they should be able to wear cloaks, tho. Because the image in my head looks ridiculous and awesome.
