Here's an alternative solution: Have them disappear slowly, giving you enough time to rush in and save some but not all of the items (choices!). Remove jelly paralyze altogether.

Wands should go the way of rods and start having unique effects, starting with a holy damage wand.

They're limited resources, anyway, and this way you don't start thinking "do I use this on my /hw or my other /hw?" when you get recharging late game.

If summons are still a problem, you can also make it so that when something is in the knockback pathway, it takes crashing damage a la Force Lance.

Try to sputterfly your way out of a juggernaut, and it'll smash you to death with your own butterflies.

I can't see why that shouldn't happen, beyond flavor reasons. Other species can be honorary orcs I guess?

It's not like Beogh is an exceptionally powerful god, so being able to take him as a non-orc just increases your options without forcing you into taking him. Having more options is good!

My point is this: Extended ought to be shortened, just as Dungeon, Vaults, S-branches, Elf and now Orc have been shortened.

Not annoying enough, call them Hounds of Tindalos and spawn them on Zot traps/Tloc miscasts/abyss.

Also discourage luring and killhole tactics by having a 1/270 chance for each turn spent with a corner ("sharp angle") in LoS to give you the howl status.

Spectral Weapon is another good spell to pick up.

Also, Pakellas is limited by piety rather than MP, the regen-on-kills effect is such that you'll gain back your maximum MP fairly quickly. Don't be afraid to learn and cast utility spells if the situation calls for it.
