I'd be happy with this, or alternatively show the damage when you hit a monster. There are some pros and cons to each approach, but I think it's been discussed before, if not several times. If people want to get into it, go for it, but I feel like most people already have a firm opinion on the topic.

Additional ranged/ammo bugs:

1) Throwing nets probably shouldn't drop in x8 quantities; I just found 24 in a single pile.
2) This isn't actually overpowered though, because they 'mulch' as soon as they hit the target and don't actually do anything to disable the monster! :)

I suppose it turns out that having a +8 aptitude is really, really good. You'll never need that many skill points to max it, hence why manuals never end. It just feels slow when you're actually playing because you're splitting your experience ~25 ways or however many skills there are.
