If you want to put in something that functions as a "rune lock" then make the lair branches easier and d:15 harder. Then it will be optimal to do lair branches before going deeper in the dungeon.

Well this will proportionally screw even more those games where you get swamp and spider over shoals and snake. Having just won a game with shoals and snake, I can tell you that the extra gear, (potential) shops and far more lucrative branch end (at least for shoals) makes a noticeable difference.

@and_into, I can see one more potential problem by increased ammo spawns - (x)bow scores will probably shoot up much higher. I know that several of my wins "lost" a lot of turns to ammo collection. That would essentially go away for all but sling users.

I think that mummies should just be grayed out on the species screen and then we don't have to worry about the rest of this discussion. They are clearly a sub-optimal choice until we get MuHe back.

Congrats. The escape is extremely variable in difficulty. 9 of my 10 online wins had easy escapes with most of them being really easy. 1 had a really tough escape though and I almost died. Luckily I had some coaching via IRC for the best way to deal with it and survived to win.

@mikee I agree 100% and that's why I said you could probably create something similar for MiBe or any of the other heavy armour Bes but I doubt you could even do so easily with something like HaBe or KoBe. It could be level 4 and I don't know if I'd take it based on the reasons that Baldu said. The risk/reward is way too high, especially with the chance of a chain reaction right at the start of the spell when the balls are closest to you the highest.
