ok I had a look at the source code and it just picks any zombifiable monster based on its possible depth spawn. The function is pick_monster_all_branches in mon-pick.cc if anyone wants to decipher the details

the better question is

would you wear the +66 crystal hauberk (it's a cpa) "Crystal Coffin" {rF--- rC--- rN--- MR--- -Cast -Tele ponderous} (and it prevents you from wearing aux armour)

If you think you're going to take a lot of damage when you go down, drink some potions that increase your survivability (haste, invisibility, agility, resistance, etc.) or read a teleport before going down so that ideally it immediately goes off when you arrive and you're hopefully in a less bad pos...

Well, I gain MP when I kill. I also think some conjurations are useful even for a summoner, for example if a monster reaches melee range with you and you need to kill him quickly. Sif's MP recovery is as good, if not better and you get it on demand. If a monster gets in melee range summon something...

drink brilliance, then cast monstrous menagerie

also why are you using vehumet on a summoner? he doesn't give anything for summons and conjurations mix very poorly with summons (since they'll get in the way of your line of fire...)

no, it's better to just skin a troll if you want regen armour. just wear leather armour or a well enchanted ring mail for AC the amount you get from healing from vampiric weapons is proportional to the damage you deal, and daggers are shit at damage unless you stab. vampires already get vamp healing...

how is FE better than IE or even AE Easily after getting level 3 spells online. Conjure Flame allows to escape, Sticky Flame rules when you enter a new level and find an adjacent Elephant, Fireball allows to kill packs in the open. IE is better on D:1 of course. Mock me, and laugh at me. Go on. at your request: I had to farm S, S, Elf, Vaults 1-4, AND some Depths to be able atleast cast glaciate (with still high failure rate) to deal with those pesky resistant monsters. Which is not that important at 3 rune run, but makes all the difference in extended. lol

just don't fight aizul if you absolutely had to fight aizul, then use heroism drink resistance throw nets use the old razzle dazzle read those scrolls of vulnerability don't fight with less than half health (i.e. drink your healing potions) also if you're going to train evocations pick up some boxes...
