Of course, by the time you've got your armor level up to 15 or even just 6 you should have much better than +0 Ring Mail. Do you still believe that "Even a +0 Ring Mail is better than your +2 Robe."? :) Perhaps for a Str 20+ character who does not care about spells and hasn't found a chai...

TSO cares about inflicting poison. That's it. The poison spell school means nothing to him, as long as you don't use it to inflict poison.

I've been playing this game for years. I'm pretty sure I've played more characters than just one single gargoyle earth elementalist. So yeah, I do know what I'm talking about when I say that, overall, the shoals are much harder than the other lair branches. I mean, not counting slime pits, of course.

Krakens are most often to be found in deep water, which will make them rare to find for characters who have to stick to land. They're also kind of difficult to finish off, due to their tendency to spray ink and run when they're hurt.

Using an amnesia scroll to unlearn sandblast would also get the game to stop auto-picking all the stones I come across. Those things are seriously cluttering my inventory and at this point the only time I ever even use sandblast is when I want to get rid of stones.

It usually gives me three, but yeah. It will give you a random collection of curse scrolls, choosing from Curse Armor, Curse Jewelry, and Curse Weapon.

...feel like they should probably consolidate those into a single scroll, especially now that they're never found in the wild.

I've found the Shoals to be relatively difficult on my GrEE. On the one hand I do have the benefit of flight to help me move over the water. I actually have used the "LRD on self" trick a few times in the orc mines, when I get surrounded away from walls, and I have to say it isn't that bad. I mean, I obviously wouldn't want to use it in Zot or Pandemonium or someplace dangerous like that, but in orc? It kills everything around ...

Found this as well, with regards to the Mercenary Card

It is a durable summon, which means that it is worth no experience, can't be abjured, can't time out, and doesn't leave any equipment behind.


So that's what it means.

I've also found that Gargoyle's can cast LRD on themselves to damage all surrounding enemies at the cost of a little bit of their own HP which is... an interesting tactic, I suppose. So far I've never been in a situation where I've even so much as considered it...
