I haven't experimented with Uskayaw yet, but I'm wondering if yelling would be part of optimal play. eg there's a crowd of popcorn coming which I'm 100% sure of safely defeating, so do a yell in hopes of pulling in something dangerous on the level which (under Usk) would be worse to fight by itself....

I note that many of the deadliest are ranged enemies. Some of that is probably from stealing the killing blows from melee monsters.

Has the case really been made here that ghosts are structurally *impossible* to balance? To address the top-most cases above you could put a floor on their melee damage and a ceiling on their allowed spell levels, based on ghost level and/or dungeon level. You could scale their AC more appropriately...

In all seriousness, why not have HP/MP reset to full when you have no threats? eg not poisoned/fainting/etc, no enemies in LOS, and no enemies on the level are on their way to where they remember seeing/hearing you.

In fairness, monsters that have any regen could do the same.
