It's a trophy, not a weapon.

If you can kill Cerebov, you don't need his sword to kill (what, exactly??) Also - be aware that it's a greatsword base type, and thus 2-handed, so you're also giving up your shield of resistance to use it.

With that old of a machine, you might be more pressed to find an OS that Crawl will run under that works on the machine. As far as I know, at least for console the specs are pretty darn low, but the library dependencies mean that you need a relatively (compared to a 120Mhz machine) up to date enviro...

The book used to be random, and then someone pointed out that it was "spoilerish" to know to exclude the area if you see the altar shape + book. Now it's the redundant book with only Apportation. I believe the name will vary, though. I don't know if random spellbooks are actually excluded ...

I believe the ones sgrunt made are just like randart books; they just contain random spells, sometimes with an element or spell level as a theme. So they're not really artifacts so much as just randomly-generated rods. Correct. They are actually randarts, though, so you couldn't enchant them further.

I would wholeheartedly support guaranteed cosmetic flags for some level of enchantments, but I might put the cutoff slightly higher, at +4/+5 range (as that when, to me, it subjectively becomes impressive.) The artifact whip is better right now full stop, even against necro resistant enemies. It's got a higher +dam, and you've already got 12.5 Necro skill so the pain brand will actually do a fair bit of damage without further investment. If you're worrying about what to use post-endgame when pain loses...
