I'm pretty sure DgTm would be a better choice for speedrunning than the caster backgrounds, and probably As too - due to what exactly Tm is, but I haven't really had the patience myself to try it out.

And yeah, trolls of Chei are pretty solid. Transmuters of Chei are rather ridiculous, mix and match and you have a pretty good character.

It really seems like most see this as some form of complaint about the indeterminability of combat, but that's not what it is. My complaint is that a character that is very obviously skillfully crafted into being ridiculous - like an ogre swinging a +6 gsc at 27 fighting/maces with 35 str - will hit...

it looks like monsters with weapons sum three dice (1d(weapon damage) + 1d(slaying) + 1d(monster damage)), thus conveniently making extreme damage rolls less likely for e.g. ogres. The more important spell to get up is Borgnjor's Revivification and not Necromutation, since statue form will do "alright" at protecting you from torment while still allowing you to chug a full heal should you direly need it.
(oh and death's door would be pretty cool, too)

Killing most enemies in a single hit is much better than vamp with mediocre damage, simply because the fight will be over very, very fast.
And getting out of trouble with Chei is very, very easy.

In terms of damage output, yes - but unlike cheibladehands it also melds everything that isn't jewellery instead of just your gloves/shield. (And thus it's not really that much of a "weapon", is it now.)

Cheibladehands is pretty much the strongest weapon in the game, so there's no reason to even consider using anything else.

Step from time is quite different from temporal distortion, because it can make large groups of enemies go away - but it is also not instant like temporal distortion is.
