Zin is stupid easy to gain piety with. You just sacrifice a hefty chunk of gold and go kill a few things and voila max piety... at least thats whats happened for me whenever I'd switch to Zin for mutation cleansing and Hells protection.

Training is completely gone now... with a few exceptions you can basically train anything whenever you want (you need a shield for shields, fire spells for fire, etc.). Your skill is going up because you have experience going into it.

For TSO melee you can either summon up a butt load of angels and they'll mop up most of the mummies for you, or just stair dance as has been mentioned before.

Silence is also great for mummy killin.

Regardless of weapon gifts, I wouldn't be so quick to discount Oki... Heroism and Finesse are both really great for any melee character. Granted if you want a change then obviously give someone else a try, but weapon gifts are only a fraction of Oki's benefits... There's a lot to be said for getting...

the +2 cloak of the Thief {+Fog Dam-3 SInv Stlth++} This thing is so awesome. Bought it with a 0/7 ring of slaying and carrying a bardiche, so the -3 dam isn't even a drawback. If you do Vestibule you might get another DWhip. Even a poison dwhip is solid for a 3runer. I've done well with them in the past regardless of brand before I discovered how much I love polearms.

It doesn't show up in the ctrl+g menu, but if you ctrl+f for "pan" it will show the locations. Also should show up on the dungeon overview screen ctrl+o

What about the AE route? You'll get Swiftness and Repel Missiles for dealing with fast moving ranged enemies, and you can eventually build up to Tornado which plays much differently from Fire Storm.

5 or 6 throwing is usually what I go with. Enough to hit fairly regularly but not enough for oka to barf out darts. About the hexes, ya it does take up quite a bit of skill...
