Even if a particular item is considered to be a "sub-optimal noob trap" I'm not sure what the problem it is with leaving it in the game. While the specific calculations might not be obvious, just looking at AC and the EV penalty aren't that hard to figure out.

Slime isn't really that bad as long as you play it safe. Firestorm and Dragons both shutdown the eyes that you're worried about. I've cleared Slime pretty easilly as both a Dragon summoner and a Fire Stormer... and you've got both! I do agree that Dig is good for Slime and since you're with Sif just...

My favorite Necro spell has got to be Haunt.

I do like Animate Dead since it gives you an extra escape option, but not sure how worthwhile they would be as a Sp.

If you're sticking with Tridents then you can turn off Polearms... I'd turn off everything but Invocations until it hits 9-10 (Finesse at 1% fail) then get T&D up (no higher than 10). My bad, it was a MiFi, no Wiz gear, wearing a Splint Mail (it had +Dam lols) and Tornado was at 21%. He also had Haste, cBlink, and Deflect missiles at 1%. He'd have probably been able to cast Tornado pretty easily in Dragon Armor or with a Wiz ring.

I had a MiFi with Tornado castable... I'm not on my gaming laptop, but I'm pretty sure I didn't have a wiz ring on and was at ~10-15% success. Was running around in PDA fwiw.

Thanks mk and chan. Your answers helped clear up my confusion. Think i prefer melee as its way less tedious.

Also, i specified trish+shield because it Is considered suboptimal and has repeatedly given me better results.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I'm taking less incoming damage with the Bardiche at 1.3 delay than I am with the LB. Almost died to a Lich I was keeping at the edge of LOS because he started summoning some real nasties... ran upstairs, rested, came back down and killed him without taking any...

I don't know what to tell you. A longbow at that skill level should trivialize everything that's not a rune level, especially with Oka's boosts. What kind of problems are you having, exactly? Alright, got a +4, +5 LB of Velocity. Going to go see how this handles in the deeper D levels.

EDIT: +5,+6 since the RNG decided to give me another EWIII

Not really seeing much difference really. Still just as easy (and way less tedious) to hack away with a Bardiche at 11 Polearms.

Just write a script that runs a cron job every 5 minutes, checks the saves folder for any new files and copies them over to a backup file. You don't even have to remember to save!

You're probably best off burning a scroll of identify on that Deck of Changes as there are some cards in there that could really mess you up. Best off meaning as opposed to blindly drawing... there might be better uses for the scroll. Also, you should use-ID your wands.

Aboms form together similar to the Green Slimies.. from a pulp to the small to large. They don't unform though. Saves you from having to do the math on corpse stacks to always get large.

I like doing a TSO->Zin->TSO switch when I do Hells on melee. Especially after clearing Zot:5 where I might have racked up a large number of bad mutations. Would be pretty cool as a player castable spell... Ghetto "crafting". Combine any 2 or 3 potions into 1. Not sure if it would be OP, but it would allow players to carry more potions... I'm sure I'm not the only one that dumps a lot of potions... Maybe you don't want to carry Might and Agil...
