as long as you aren't fighting several at once I would like to stress this point so people don't get an overly simplistic idea. Keep in mind that a lot of the time you are not going to be fighting one thing at a time (especially if you are not experienced with tactics or just don't care to use them).

I'm curious... General advice is that the best defense is a good offense, so I would have thought the slaying bonus on the CPA would be more beneficial than some extra AC and GDR. At what point does the AC benefits outweigh the Slaying? Sometimes it is clearer if you think of the two items as rings...

Spammals + Curing Spam might keep you alive long enough. Maybe. Possibly. I'm not sure in the slightest. Definitely not. That would be unlikely to work even against one bee. I think people in this thread are vastly overrating the defensive utility of spammals and imps, especially against fast stuff...

There are actually many uses for awkward throwing, some of which have not even been mentioned here - some of them are silly and some of them are actually practical. I like having these options, and I don't see 'newbies might be confused' as a good argument for removing all of them in one action.

Small correction - slowness is actually 20% per mutation, so it would be 2 in 10, or 20% from range. I don't think this is exactly true. Just stab everything (don't forget that you have invisibility) or beat the crap out of it with a pain weapon if you happen to be unable to stab it.

Definitely don't use allies if you are stabbing, as they will wake up things you want to stab. This includes stuff you've just hibernated.

I used to quit the game every time I got that mutation. It was beyond annoying.

Another argument against it was that you could technically draw maps of levels so that it would have no in-game effect. The out-of-game effect is that you find a volcano and throw your copy of crawl into lava irl.

I can't remember if the change is in 0.9 or not - I think it is - but self-sublimation was nerfed to be heavily power dependent, and chunk sublimation was also nerfed.
