This seems like a design flaw to me, since it encourages players to equip all floor loot as long as they have spare ?rc. Maybe there should be a "fine" category below glowing/runed that includes unbranded weapons with enchant bonuses.

CBlink is good if you have the spare XP and don't have heavy armour, but you don't need it. If you actually started with the fighter background, the low Int and heavy armour might make it tough to get. Agreed, I like the Guardian Wallet effect. It's powerful when you do use it, but using it frequently would run you out of gold pretty quickly. It's something you'd ration out for really tough parts of the game. On equipment, though, it might encourage repeated (W)ear/(T)ake off to avoid wasting gold...

You can just run Bows at -2, it's not that bad if it's your only relevant low apt.

DgWz is good for the extreme flexibility, and super high int and low level spells means you need to invest very little XP before Call Imp and Mephitic Cloud take you straight through the early game. Just be ready to adapt to whatever good items you find.
