Re: Suggestion about bringing the change in Translocation m

Disjunction is almost identical to the amulet's effect, since things that are close to you (in disjunction's aoe) are things that are going to be hitting you. Yes, there are some differences, but not nearly enough to warrant a separate spell, especially since dispersal already exists.

If you set autopickup exceptions to not pick up "ring of" then you won't autopickup type-identified rings. You can then either set further exceptions for the rings you do want to pick up (ring of slaying, protection, etc.) or just pick them up manually.

Spider also, yes, has the separate problem that it is lots of fast melee creatures with small individual hits, so if you have lots of AC nothing will ever hurt you and if you are weak it is completely impossible. The single thing stairs must do is change levels. That's a staircase. Making monsters come with the player has been suggested many times before. Sure, you can change what the levels on the ends of the stairs look like (I mean, tomb already has this correspondence) but that doesn't really do much.

Brimstone Fiends, ice fiends, and tzitzimitls have about the same AC as stone giants (15 or 12), and everything else I could find has less than 15 AC. Unless you care only about hell sentinels and dispater, stone giant is a better test than hell sentinel.

You can't really remove up staircases without making crawl into a very different game. There are problems with stairs, but one of the fundamental design things with crawl is that you are (in theory at least) allowed a choice of where you want to go next.

The main difficulty in spider nest is that it has huge monster density so you aren't allowed to rest while you're in spider.
