Re: CIP: DDAK, out of MP

In the short run, train invocations. Every point of mana counts now. In the long run? Ditch the GDA(it's too encumbering, even at high armor skill) and train summoning - anything to at least tank chumps for you. Unless you find a vampiric weapon, of course. But realistically? Abandonment might be yo...

Re: Mutation Evolution

Until now (started to play DCSS about a month ago) the worst bad mutation I got was Low MP (rank 1, max MP -10% ), and, with some imagination, this one made me laugh: You occasionally shout uncontrollably. :D Shouting is actually a delayed death sentence unless you can tank everything on your curre...

Well, then the question becomes 'why would I ever play a Mummy, when I can just be a Deep Elf and worship the Forgotten?'

Re: How often should DD use recharge?

^ mutation roulette being bad is something that basically every veteran manages to agree on. This might have something to do with the fact that 50/50 chance of good/bad mutation can not be classed as favorable (especially considering that some mutations classed as 'good' have downsides that may cau...

Re: Equipment god

Now, tying it to enchantments sunk into the launcher (TheArcanist's proposal) does have a certain ring to it. In that case, why not go all the way and tie everything equipgod does to the enchantment level of the gear in question? The length or overall power of his branding invocations, for example....

Tediously apporting the orb to the staircase! why would you ever do that Honestly? I was getting bored. Apportation is a fun spell and I'm sad it took so long to find it and get it usefully castable this time around. Also, Tomb is awful and I refuse to ever go there again if I'm not worshiping a go...

Re: Rework brand spells

I agree. Honestly, I'd like to see every Charms spell have more interesting, potent effects counterbalanced by a significant drawback, or at least something that prevents them from being mindlessly spammed. Repel Missiles giving -25% to hit on average may be useful, but it's also boring.

If you haven't beaten the game yet, why go into Hell when you have three runes? Just go win, then try at some crazy shenanigans.

YAVP - First 15-runer! MiBe of TSO

Thread title says it all. Character dump: http://pastebin.com/yWixuEfi Highlights include - An artefact falchion that served me well against my greatest nemesis - electric eels! Re: Equipment god

Or, perhaps instead of tying it to piety(or enitrely to piety), the mulch rate drop should be tied to the amount of enchanting scrolls added to the launcher? It would definitely have parity with the rest of the god's conduct.

Re: What would you train and why?

in your boots I would ask of a book. but idk whic books do you have... On review of his char dump, he appears to have both Wizardry and Air, so he has both Deflect Missiles and Haste. Vehumet will give him all the killdudesing he'll ever need, so I doubt it'd be optimal to spend it on a spellbook. ...

Re: What would you train and why?

I'm going to avoid longblades. Call it noob arrogance but I can't imagine how putting that XP into something other than my main defensive and offensive tool is a good thing. Melee attacks only cost the delay it takes to make the attack, unlike spells, which always require MP. Once you run out of MP...

Re: Rework brand spells

I think the discussion re: the equipment god has shown that there's clearly a design space for manipulating egos and brands. While the branding spells in their current iteration do lead to degenerate behavior and should be removed, I think chucking out the idea of manipulating brands wholesale is a ...

Re: Equipment god

Btw should this god gift ammunition? It would make this god more viable for ranged characters. I'm of the opinion that ammo gifting overlaps too much with Okawaru, and that this god doesn't really need to do anything to support archers - they, like any martially based character, will benefit enormo...
