For the OP: magic resistance does nothing against banishment by distortion-branded weapons (or Zot traps), only the spell version.

There are only 5 titles left: 1 regular skill title (Fire Magic), 1 god title for an Invocations god (Fedhas), and 3 god titles for non-Invocations gods (Gozag, Ru, & Xom).

Dagger is a fine choice, too.

I like to fly, usually by a potion of flight, as soon as I see Jorgun. It reduces Shatter damage by 2/3.

Consider pain branding the rapier, too. With 14 SBlades, it has the same min delay as a dagger. You then fight with the +9 rapier of pain and stab anything that absolutely needs to die with the highest enchantment dagger you have.

Clear the rest of the Dungeon, then Vaults:1-4, then all of Depths. Then post another dump for more advice. Also, pick up a good short blade or demon blade and train it a bit.

It works for me now.

The scrolls I think were mostly from zigs, but some were from Pan while searching for zigs.

The javelins were almost all from zigs. The Shoals and ranged floors can have tons of them.

You make a compelling case for curing the wild magic mutation. Plus, it sounds like you want to do that. Do it, I say.

I'd train Staves and use that staff of fire in melee. It's very good against non-fire-resistant enemies with the amount of Fire Magic and Evocations you have. I'd immediately train Staves to 4 to get delay to 1.0 and then I'd strongly consider training all the way up to 12 Staves for min delay ASAP....
